My last trip to WDW was June 2007 and although it's not that long since we were in the happiest place on earth, it's starting to feel like a dim and distant memory!!

My next trip is in Dec this year and whilst i am really looking forward to it i can't quite get myself to beleive we are really going.

One of the ways i personally like to remember my trips is talking about them but, this is starting to drive my friends and family mad.

I think it would be great to start a nostalgia thread, one that helps us keep the fading memories alive. Somewhere to pour out your memories, good or bad where no one is going to roll there eyes because you've mentioned something multiple times!!!!

To start it off:

One of my favourite WDW memories is the first time that i saw Wishes. we'd been to the world the year before but for some (completely mad) unknown reason we've not seen any of the night time entertainment!!!:scared1:

I'd spent months researching (thanks DIS!:thumbsup2 ) the best spot for viewing and we settled on a spot in the middle of the road, just before the hub!

I was blown away! the Castle was so pretty, Tinkerbell was real!!!! and the show was gorgeous. My favourite bit: the Sorcerers apprentice part when the pink fire works shoot up from the ground in straight lines in time with the music.

I keep the CD in my car and when i'm feeling nostalgic for past trips, i play it and it reminds me of the wonderful time we had.

My favourite memory is the first time we went to WDW and we were walking through the tunnels collected our map and we saw Chip & Dale my son was 6 yrs old at time and the look on his face was priceless he could not believe that the REAL Chip & Dale were there to meet him, and it just got better & better with every passing day as he met all the Characters & did all the rides. But that first mornings excitment will always be special for me especially as now he is 16 and the rides are more important than anything else.Never mind DS no. 2 IS only 2 so we get to do it all over again

What a great idea for a thread!

My first memory of Florida (when I was 10) was (I think, really can't remember where it was)) Typoon Lagoon? We snorkeled and saw lots of tropical fish in the clearest water I've ever seen. Our home video has the song 'Colours of the wind' from Pocahontas in the background with some nifty editing lol.

We then sat on the grass and had a picnic, and a squirrel came and sat with us. It had no fear of us at all and kept stealing our crisps! It was running all over us and pulling our hair, and only ran off after about half an hour when it had eaten all the crisps!

Such an amazing memory, and one we luckily got on film, so I watch it regularly.

Another one is when the humidity hits you like a punch when you step off the plane. I love it!

Me too!! I was never much of a summer person as i had not been abroad until i was 24 but now i love the heat. Even when the plane has just landed and you put your hand on the glass and it's all warm. I wish i was there right now

Another thing i really love (which is probably really silly) is seeing all the american lorries on the roads. Thats when i feel i've really arrived. it's like being inside the TV, as thats the only way i had seen them before WDW

The smell when you get off the plane, the humidity.

I remember walking down Main street with Chelsea who was only 3 and we was chatting to the Mayor lol,and it was fantastic, his accent seeing the castle.

Wishes is my favourite,I cry everytime I watch it.

This time it was amazing to see our 3 year olds first time experiences, and DD whos now 8 experiencing the thrill side of it.

"Have a nice day" is my favourite expression.

The friendlyness of the CM'S,we spent ages talking this time round to two lovely ladies who decended on us for A's birthday that was really special they took time out to ask both girls how long was we here, what have we seen, who's there favourite princess etc..then invited us to a special meet and greet.:goodvibes

I agree & the yellow school buses.:)
I have so many lovely memories that it's hard to pick one but I guess a favourite would have to be sitting on rocking chairs on Tom Sawyers island in the MK. We were on holiday with 2 other families that summer but that particular afternoon, it was just the 4 of us relaxing with a cool drink & watching the world go by while the ducks waddled about around us at our feet. The afternoon parade was just about to start so the island was peaceful & so relaxing. I have some lovely pics of the kids that day.
I wish I was there now.

I also love walking round Downtown disney in the evening, more chilled out.

Also sunbathing round the pool and the skies are crystal clear, the board says another hot day,and the kids are all suncreamed up and swimming in the pool all content. What more can you ask for?

The downside being home and our 3 year old declaring "Mickey mouse is coming,he's on the birgin plane coming" and trying to explain he isnt:guilty:
Birgin is our she pronounces it too lol!:lmao:

I wish I was there now,My plan would be doing some stupendous big food shop at walmart, then onto the outlets..then tonight we shall catch wishes whilst sat munching popcorn...:goodvibes

I have soooo many great momories but the first things that hit me that we were at wdw was getting to main street and the smell of toffee and then walking a little bit further up and soe cast member coming out with carts and things singing and dancing. It felt as though they had just come out to welcome me and me bf :)

(I was totally overwhelmed and had a little cry)

i rember when we decided,we would always stay onsite.we did a flydrive and hadn`t booked first night(you could in them days).
Flight was delated and landed late, drove around for ages.
There must have been a convention on, as everwere was booked up
Finaly we found a place $30 for the night on 192.we took itand never unpacked and dw hardley slepet,as place felt like something out of the rocky horra show
Well a 6.30 am dw made us get in car and drive to disney, the all stars was booked up.
Then we went to coranardo springs and they had rooms availabe:yay: well from then disney was the only place for us.
later in the stay we had a place booked at MIC lakefrount on idrive for 3 nights
during which we got discounts for water roch in room and moved due to teange kids party next door
Then we went back to the allstars whe had booked
After that we have never stayed ofsite while in orlando and a few years later we bought dvc

I saw a yellow school bus on tuesday in Rutland! It's the first time I'd seen one here (didn't think they existed) and for a crazy second was confused and thought I was in America! lol

I hope they do bring them here, they're so cool! lol Will save me 100 miles a week for the school run! :O

My very first memory is going on the monorail through the Contemporary at breakfast time, (which was an adventure in itself), and seeing people eating Mickey toast!! Mickey toast!! I was 10 and had no idea it existed!! That memory is extra special now as I remember standing there specifically with my nan (the whole family were there really, but me and her always stuck together) and we lost her last year.

It is my biggest Disney dream to stay at that hotel, just becuase of that memory!!!! :goodvibes

I love the 1st time my family and I all get on the monorail to MK...we all do the por favor bit!! I love going onto you tube and listening to it, it cheers me up!!!!:cloud9:

Wow sooo many!!, my eldest DD say's she also loves the smell and the heat when she get's off the plane, it's then she knows she's on holiday in the best place ever!!:cutie: .
For me it had to be watching Wishes for the 1st time SO emotional, I can't look at anyone, I have tears in my eye's :goodvibes
Watching the parade at MGM when our DD's were dressed as Jasmine and Tink, earlier in the day they had both had pics with Aladdin, Jasmine Jafar and The Genie, and then whilst watching the parade, my eldest (Jasmine) was on my DH's shoulder watching the parade and other DD (Tink) was fast asleep when Aladdin & Jasmine went past, Jasmine waved frantically at my DD and asked where Tinkerbelle was?, my Mum was in tears that she remembered them both :lovestruc

when you see the "welcome to walt disney world" sign than spans the road when you leave i4 to go onto property.we know were there

My first memory of WDW was walking up main street for the first time and seeing the castle and the main street dancers, I was so blown away that tears just streamed down my face, I then remember a boy aged about 7 looking at me with a confessed face as if to say how can you be sad here :confused3 :rotfl: ;)

My personal memory goes back to 1992 when I went to Disneyland Paris (EuroDisney at the time:) ) on what was my 1st holiday with my now nearest and dearest. I remember getting a good spot for the Parade and when Pluto came up to me (my fave character) he wiggled his rear in my direction so I did what anyone else would do in the situation and scratched it for him:rotfl2: :rotfl2:
Happy days:cool1:

Another great memory i have is of the first morning waking up in AKL, standing on the balcony at 5am (bloody jet lag!!!). The smell was amazing, the combination of that Florida smell (i'msure you know what i mean), the humidity and the smell of breakfast cooking in Boma downstairs. I've never felt more contented

Oh, gosh. i am sat here with a lump in my throat, for me, i know i have arrived when that first night we drive through the Disney signs to DTD sit by the lake with a Hot Chocolate from Ghiradelli's and watch the world go by whilst listening to the Disney Songs they play in the background. (Sob, it gets me everytime)

The greatest memory I have is from my most recent trip to WDW (also being my first trip there) when me and my sister met Peter Pan & Wendy. I had just happened to buy a pair of mickey ears and was determined to wear them for the enitre day. When we got up to PP and Wendy, PP asked whether they helped me hear any better, and he received my usual responce (being "Wha?" because I wasn't actually listening at the time). That lead to a fair amount of laughing between them and my sister, and my mum, whilst I was left feeling a little stupid, but it was a great moment I won't forget.
