Disney Nostalgia Pictures

I don't remember a piano, but I remember an elephant. Is that the place? We stopped going there after DCA opened up because we liked eating at Burr Bank Ice Cream better. Easier to find somewhere to sit.

Hmmmm.....an elephant in the old Carnation ice cream parlor on Main Street? I don't recall an elephant now, but maybe if I saw a picture of it I would suddenly remember. I think the last time I was in there was probably in the early '90s, and then I didn't go to DL between 1996 - 1999, so things changed in that time, and then changed even more in the 21st century. Maybe I missed the elephant. I just can't recall where the ragtime piano playing was happening. For some reason, my friend had the memory of it being in "the ice cream parlor," so I assumed he was right because I had a vague, fuzzy ragtime piano recollection. But then I am wondering if maybe the piano was somewhere else along Main Street instead. Hmmm.....

Checking my book, it says the Blue Ribbon Bakery is now where the Carnation ice cream used to be. Gibson Girl Ice Cream is the one with the large glass elephant that came from Disneyland Paris.

Yes, you're right. So IF the ragtime piano playing was, indeed, coming from inside the Carnation parlor and not some other place on Main Street, then they probably removed it from the park completely when they turned it into Blue Ribbon. I know the darn piano with the ragtime music would not have been anywhere else besides Main Street, clearly, but whether or not it was definitely in the old Carnation parlor (which was adjacent to the current Carnation Cafe, and the menu was shared by both places, I think) or some other location is the mystery!

LOL, you guys are confusing me....AFAIK, the ragtime piano player has always been at Coke Corner...and still is! :confused3 :goodvibes

This is why I posed the question of whether or not anyone remembered the ragtime piano player being in the old Carnation ice cream parlor - to find out where it is or was in the past!:goodvibes I only have a vague memory of it, and couldn't say for sure where I had seen it. I never go into Coke Corner for any reason these days so I wouldn't have seen it in there, but possibly that is where it has always been. Is that where it was back in 1991 and in the '80s? I don't remember. There was another part of Carnation at one time, which is now Blue Ribbon, and my friend did say "ice cream parlor," so I assumed he meant the piano was in Carnation.

Ah, that's it! I thought I remember reading about the piano but I couldn't remember where. My book says the Refreshment Corner/Coke Corner has been there since 1955!

I'm pretty sure the ragtime piano has always been at Coke Corner... I'm going next week and hoping to catch someone playing. I know there was a guy that played there for a long time (30 years?) but is now retired.

Yes, I think you are right. I was thrown off when my friend said "ice cream parlor," and my mind instantly jumped to the old part of Carnation which is now Blue Ribbon Bakery. I never go into Coke Corner for any reason, and probably have not been in there for years and years and years, so I didn't remember clearly. I will have to make a point of going in there and catching a piano player on the next trip!

Here's my DD with the same Cinderella! :)

I liked her shorter sleeved dress in your picture. This one just doesn't look as pretty to me. :rolleyes1

Maybe that is her cold weather dress. When I went in Jan. Jasmine and Aladdin had on fancy coats.

You're right PinkBudgie...all the princesses wear jackets when it's cold outside. Not as cute as without the jacket but I guess they have to keep warm too!

I noticed that she has a back up costume. But she sure looks purty with the short sleeves and the long gloves. :lovestruc

Here's that same Cinderella again, this time with my DS and I like this one because you don't see those mice very often! In fact, I can't remember seeing them other than this time back in the 80's! I guess those mice are pretty elusive! :)

I don't know about DLR, but 2 years ago when we were at WDW the mice were there. They were wonderful too, they danced around with my daughter for 10 minutes and we had a great time!
