Something tells me Disney wanted to do a Disney+ paid release at some point anyway to see what the demand will be like and how much they’ll get out of it. Maybe they just made the decision with this movie knowing it wouldn’t make what it was going to make pre-COVID regardless, to have it be the guinea pig.

I do agree. I just hold a grudge because the theater experience shouldn’t be messed with, and movies like Mulan should be seen on the big screen. As much as I liked Dumbo, I would have rather a movie like that had been the guinea pig

I'd say 6 months max with it being withheld from site wide release, even though I'm predicting a Holiday season rollout, so 3 months after release.

One thing they have to be mindful of are future releases. If they just dump this 1 month into it, the next one people are going to think "if I just wait a month".....

But again who knows. People bought Onward knowing it was coming on the service in 2 weeks time.

I did it! Finally predicted a Disney move. Now after I type this we will find out that it isn't actually dropping to everyone Dec 4th...lol

Either very smart, or very dumb release date.

They can either reel people in for October subscriptions with the release date to get them for October/Nov/Dec with just Mandalorian

or people will be patient and wait 2 days and get just be subscribed for Nov and Dec like last year.

I think the former because the show was so highly praised for S1 that people won’t want to risk getting spoiled

Any plans to add additional shorts? Showing the kids the classic Disney cartoons is great but there aren't many to choose from.
They added Trick or treat this week. Which I remember. Especially the song. I wish they would add more shorts and more Disney television from the 50's through the 80's Especially more from wonderful World of Disney

We were all set to buy Mulan this weekend and then I read it would be included Dec 4th. So I discussed with family just waiting few months also. But I bit the bullet and paid for access.. We got popcorn from the movie theatre and ordered out chinese food and had red cocktails (adults) and really enjoyed the movie. It was worth it. (We had originally planned a big fun weekend for my birthday for its original planned release in March). But seriously, if I were Disney I would have set the date to be included much further out....

Sounds like a fun family night.
I don't think the date selected is a bad choice but I do think they made a mistake in announcing it before the did the digital release. I would have withheld announcing the December date for all until sometime in October. Think there are probably some people that were debating it that will wait now but might have purchased it if they didn't know when the full release would be.

I think it was honest to announce the date it will be free to everyone who has Disney plus. That way people can’t complain. You know the date the decision is yours to make if you want to to pay the 29.99 and whatever else fees is on top of that. If any I don’t know.
anyone know the final cost of Mulan with the fees added if any?

I agree it is a very open and honest way to do it and I'm glad they did. I was planning to wait but I know the temptation would have been high for me not knowing to cave in but I think i can wait fine.
I do wonder if sales dip after a bit if they might lower the rate later. Like on October 4th its only $20 and November 4th it's $10. Basically $10 for each month of early access. Then people that didn't want to pay $30 for it might be ok spending $10-20. It's closer so easier to wait but also cheaper so easier to justify it, especially if your kids are bugging you or you want a new family film for Thanksgiving. Would only have to wait a week or so at that point but it's also only $10 for something cheap to do over the holiday.

Anyone watch Earth to Ned? I watched the first one and it was pretty good. It has that Muppets style humor, but quality may depend on the guest. I'm a fan of Andy Richter so I was interested in the first one anyway. All episodes for the season are up.

$31.89 USD is what I was charged.
