My daughter, a 12 year old budding artist, wants to see a show dedicated to those who do the art, the animation, etc. for the Parks. "One Day at Disney" came close and brought us to the TV, but it wasn't what we were hoping for. While that just touched on individuals across the spectrum of Disney/ABC, we had sort of hoped it would follow the daily lives of artists. How did they get there? What did they major in? Did they always want to work for Disney? What sort of portfolio did they have already to get the job? Who draws the wonderful posters in the Parks? How many types of Art jobs exist at WDW/Disney? Do they have advice at what she might need to start learning now?

I was never this enthusiastic about anything at age 12. Yet she seems driven.

Go to you tube and search Don ducky Williams. He gives some good speeches on how he got the job at Disney and some other questions your daughter has . Seen Don ducky Williams a few times on Disney cruises he’s excellent.

I think they’re adding brief episodes each week (or maybe more often) to One Day at Disney, focusing on a single individual. The first one was about one of the animators who draws Mickey now. He talks about his life, including the fact that he applied to Disney and was turned down because he wasn’t good enough! So check the One Day at Disney listing on D+.

Also, when we were at the D23 Expo I bought a book for my DGD titled Pencils, Pens & Brushes by Mindy Johnson. It’s subtitled A Great Girls’ Guide to Disney Animation and presents the biographies of women who were important to the development of Disney animation whether through artwork, writing and even chemistry! It’s published by Disney Press and is available on Amazon. Your daughter might enjoy it too.

Togo is amazing as I thought. Only watched 15 minutes have to get to work. This movie is better than lots of movies that came out in the movie theatre this year.
We just watched this and it’s so good! I knew very little about this story, other than a book I read to my kids about Balto ages ago.

There isn’t going to be any must see as soon as possible shows for me left in a week since Imagineering is over and Mandalorian will be dropping the last episode. I’ll keep the service because my kid loves it, but Disney night be looking at a big drop in subscribers.

Wow, I didn't realize that Imagineering is gone for good..dang, really disappointed. Now I know why u weren't like " I'll still keep the service" on the fence almost, I get it now for sure. Like you, I'll still keep it, its literally pennies a month but there is just so much more to Disney, I cant believe their only going to have 6 episodes. But it sounds like there going to be some similar shows coming so I got some hope. I will say this though, I can almost guarantee alot of the people that were affected by the big price increases and refused to pay that, after watching Imagineering probably have a new look on Disney and all those price increases dont seem quite as bad. Kinda makes ya wonder if that was by design, huh.

supposedly it was only going to be an hour and half documentary but the director had so much great film that they turned it into 6 episodes. In the help section there is place to request shows. Everyone should suggest more imagineering story.

I liked how it was not all rah rah Disney. It shows that they recognize the cost cutting mistakes when building the new parks and the neglect in the US parks. Tony Baxter said it best about the wrong choices and how they are having to add so much now to make up for it.

I agree - I was pleasantly surprised. Joe Rohde, for example, clearly thought Pandora made no sense whatsoever.

Jake cannavale called the new Star Wars movie a word I can’t write here failure. Jake was the wanna be bounty hunter that many people will say was the worse episode of mandalorian. Hope Disney never uses him again for anything. Another person that wants to bite the hand that feeds you.

Never heard of him. I put zero stock in other people's opinions of movies, music, art, food. I likes what I likes and dislikes what I dislikes and nobody else's opinions matter one shiny rat's patoot.

I saw that too!! Funny, I thought he was a horrible actor. He ruined that Mando episode. Good riddance.

At a Christmas Party yesterday afternoon I was asked if I had seen the new movie yet. I replied I hadn't because I always am a wait-er and will eventually see it, but not on opening weekends. And that applies to any movie, not just SW.

But in the meantime, all my thoughts are on this upcoming episode of Mandalorian! Outside of the strange rookie bounty hunter episode, this show has captivated me (and my family). And with the episode last week, the worry and curiosity of what might happen in the upcoming last episode is so tangible, it could be cut with a butter knife in this house. Four of us, all waiting. My wife, who is most definitely not a SW fan, is right there at a fever pitch with me. I cant even get to her to watch Force Awakens or Last Jedi. She just doesn't care. But a Baby Yoda has her locked in.

To me, it makes the new massive budget movie, seem so over the top and too glossy. I love my little eight episode Mandalorian and simply can't wait for what must come with Season 2. This season has been far more real and watchable to us in my house because it touched on all the right emotions. This show captured it all for my family.

I enjoyed Forky Asks a Question more than any childless millennial has any right to
Forky Asks a Question is my favorite D+ show. By far. I'd be happy with paying the yearly subscription price for just this, although I do watch other shows. The Imagineering show is also good.
But Forky rules! That's just the way the cookie crumbles.
