9pm EST release on either Thursday or Friday is optimal for every US time zone (except maybe Hawaii). And that’s not just for Mandalorian or Disney+, that should be the standard across the board for streaming, especially stuff that’s released weekly. I can’t/won’t stay up until 3am to start a show. By 4am EST, you can’t log on to Twitter without at least 50 tweets and retweets spoiling the episode from west coasters. Muting is useless unless you just happen to pick random words like ‘Grogu’ to mute.
They pretty much chose the worst possible release strategy probably because it’s easiest on their servers. HBO just did the standard 9pm release for Game of Thrones. And it worked just fine.

The release time is perfect for me in Europe :) I don't see any spoilers online as I'm working all day. I'm loving my Friday evening routine of watching new episodes after work
At least it works for you.

I'm putting this here since it may relate to the call today and this seems to be the thread for discussing the call. The SEC is making an announcement at 6pm that looks like it is going to be ESPN/ABC getting rights to ALL SEC football games starting 2024 (no more CBS). Since the SEC announcement is in the middle of this disney conference I'm expecting it will be part of the disney call as well.

game of thrones was not steaming only. No comparison. Millions watched on regular tv.

Millions also streamed it when it was available. For the finale ~13 million watched live on tv, ~7 million streamed it, then ~24 million watched it later in the week.
Versus about the 16 million watching Mandalorian according to the Neilson numbers this season. Assuming half of those would be at launch time, it’s a fairly reasonable comparison.

a Streaming only show still is not the same and comparing the biggest tv event in years to a weKelly series also isn’t an apple to apple comparison. GoT made way more money then mandaloruan does which lets them do more. Apple snd oranges.
