Yeah, next episode should get dark. They are generally doing such a great job with directors on this show though. I guess you weren't big on "The Prisonser" episode but it was my avorite of Season One so I am looking forward to it.

It's insane that they had Robert Rodriguez directing an episode. I guess Favreau is just calling up all his friends, and he has many!

I actually liked The Prisoner episode a lot, it was one of my favorite episodes of S1, but for some reason Burr just irked me. And I love him as a comedian lol. I can cast aside a lot of things in this fictional universe, but a blatant New England accent just completely took me out of that episode. I knew he was coming back because I think he mentioned it, or maybe it was just the way the episode ended that made it obvious his story wasn’t complete. I think I need to do a rewatch of the series before next week. Every time I try to rewatch I get to Chapter 3 and then get sidetracked.

This more than anything I’ve ever seen has utilized directors flawlessly. They each have their own individual stylings and connect perfectly. In all reality, having 6-7 different directors with different directing approaches having 30-50 minute segments in a 6.5 hour movie should not work as well as it does in this series, and I think the credit has to go to Favreau for piecing the right directors together along with his script. But there’s never been a TV series where each episode has a star director attached to it

I guess I don't see the Bostonian accent as any sillier than other accents in the Star Wars Galaxy. I mean, a lot of people have those British accents! It's a big galaxy.

Snuck in an early viewing of Chapter 14. Another really well done episode, and you could see Rodriguez’ fingerprints all over it.

2) why would Mando continue to try and break through the force field over and over and over again knowing he couldn’t get through to Grogu? Just seemed like a device to fill time after the 1st failed attempt.

Yea I thought that as well. But maybe they thought since he actually looses the child this episode, we better make it look like he tried his best to save him.

I think the thing is that Mando just does not understand what he is seeing here. The Force is so beyond him and he doesn't know what else to do. I gather that he's actually not too sharp about some things, you know? Trying to brute-force it is the only thing he knows to do.

Well yeah, that’s what I meant by I can cast aside some things in the universe, the British accents just seem to fit. I wasn’t expecting Fin to talk about tea and crumpets, every time Burrs character spoke in that episode I thought he was going to bring up Tom Brady or the Red Sox

Absolutely, they were building the drama towards “The Tragedy”, but he got knocked out. Then said “I’ll come back for you”, fought off some troopers, came back, gets knocked out again by the force field and then said “I’ll come back for you” and then left to fight off Troopers. Was just something that felt weird to me

🤣
Maybe he should go to that ocean planet and get some chowDAH!

Did you see the SNL bit where he was drinking the pumpkin beer? Hillarious! I have family from Rhode Island (I was actually born there) and that stuff always cracks me up.

Yea it did. Only thing I can think of is if he left him up there the whole last half of the episode to fend for himself, and then lost him-it would have looked like he didn't even try.

Its absolutely bonkers to me that Boba Fett dons the armor again like people have been dreaming of for a very long time and most of my twitter timeline is talking about Grogu being taken

Just really shows the emotional attachment people have formed with that child so quickly. Pushes a huge fan favorite to B-story territory in most people’s minds. I know I am more excited for the Boba story, and really hope the standalone series for him goes forward and is spectacular. He is one of my Top 3 all time SW characters. I loved his reincarnations in the original EU novels and am so glad he was able to escape that Sarlacc in the new canon as well.

For me, the biggest problem with the WB/HBO Max deal is that it’s only in the US. Here in Canada, WB titles will go to theatres first (if any are left in business by that point) and then supposedly to Crave only after the full theatrical run. The HBO Max stream at home option isn’t an option for us at all.

I’ve missed going to movie theatres, and hope they can hang on after being closed fully (or open only with tiny capacity limits and no new movies - our local was mainly showing movies in Chinese with one or two older movies in English) for what’s looking like a full year at this point.

Lol. I haven’t watched the episode yet but I’ve clicked on every one lol. I just can‘t help myself. But I also read the spoilers on twitter as soon as I woke up.

After havingThe Child’s name spoiled for me last week I decided this morning I couldn’t wait until Friday night anymore. I watched through the credits so it doesn’t say “continue watching” and my girl doesn’t find out I watched without her.

They’re also going to run into a lot of pirating issues. A lot of people are turned OG by theater scans because of the quality of sound and video, but people are going to rip 4k video straight from the streaming service and upload it.

That may have been the shortest episode but it certainly packed a punch.

Can’t wait for all the dark trooper toys.

I loved the moment of Boba wearing the armor again. Definitely excited to see more of

I didn’t expect Mayfield to return, he wasn’t my favorite so I can take or leave that.

The whole time Grogu was on the stone I wanted to know what he was seeing. Just a peak. I want to know more about the child and his past. Him being familiar with the dark saber is really intriguing.

I already know this is going to suck to wait basically a year for the next season.

Wait it out. Were doing minor critiques.

And they’re super minor critiques lol. Like I said, the things I mentioned those things do not negatively impact my enjoyment of the episode, I still very much loved it. Frog lady is still the only thing I’ve actually disliked this season

And other than getting a glimpse of what Grogu was witnessing there really wasn’t anything that I think could have been added that would have filled the episode to allot for more runtime. And maybe Gideon and will have the Doctor tap into some of what Grogu saw and we’ll see that next week. But I actually think they could have cut some things for time, but that’s just me. That’s a major thing that I have loved about the series. They don’t waste their runtime very often, they’re quick to get the ball rolling and don’t stop until the end credits hit.

The wait between seasons is a gripe I have with streaming in general. I understand it, most of these series’ have far higher production value that cause these long layoffs. But we’ll be waiting almost 2.5 years between Stranger Things seasons 3 and 4. I don’t think this Mando layoff will be as grueling just because there’s a ton of content on D+ to fill the time this go around. But then again, they’re probably going to end on a huge cliffhanger and my opinion on that will change that I’m going to want S3 immediately.

At least in this series the lay-off between seasons won’t be as noticeable as Stranger Things. Those kids are going to be adults soon and with the very long time between seasons it becomes very apparent. Thankfully Grogu and Mando don’t show their age!
