Disney News Round Up

Ok, I did some digging and learned that Flamingo Crossing was never cancelled per se. The thing was postponed and is able to resume building at any time deemed fit.

Haven't you noticed Disney never "cancels" anything? They just stop talking about it until everyone forgets.

Did you ever see a cancellation notice for Hyperion Wharf?

That is completely true. There are plenty of projects that are just put on hold rather than canceled.

Two questions. First is this like the entire youtube brand? Second what reasons could they have to do buy it? I mean they make pretty good videos already.

Not All of youtube, but a huge part of it. I am a huge fan of one of the co founders (shaycarl). I Read an article is its disney's way of drawing in "teens" to the disney network. One issue i can see is some of the maker youtubers are not family friendly, and may seperate out due to this. time will see, but im excited!

if Disney was going to buy all of YouTube it would be major news and would be in the billions of dollars because it's owned by google and it's a huge entity for them.

Maker has > 380 million subscribers and gets around 5.5 billion views a month over 55,000 channels. That pretty much explains why they bought it, instant market. It would take a long time to build that up from scratch.

Very true lol. What makes me scratch my head though is why would another company sign on to something that Disney doesn't have much interest in building? I mean surely they have the incentive to build Flamingo Crossing if they let a new company sign on. Also Walgreens signed up back at the end of 2011 going into 2012. That is well after things went quiet. I just have this feeling that Disney is going to revive this project before it is said and done.

Out today Disney announced they are doing Star Wars character meals for Star Wars weekends.

On todays DISunplugged podcast Pete reported they are hearing numbers are close to $2 Billion for MyMagic+ costs. There is no backing down for Disney now they are in it for the long haul.

Where can we find this info? Have dining reservations started? Restaurants? Thanks!

Actually I have to change this to reports have said they are doing this because I didn't find anything confirmed by disney but several sources on twitter had reports that disney is doing this. I will update if i find more info.

The Atlantic Dance Club next to the Boardwalk Resort is going to begin testing live karaoke. Based on the tests it might become a new offering for the club.

I had a link in a previous post with info on the band and what they will be doing.

Big FP+ news today! Next week Disney guests offsite will be able to book up to 30 days in advance for FP+. They will also have all access to Disney my Disney experience app and will not have to use kiosks. Disney will also offer magic bands for sale prices have not been confirmed but $15 is the number being told. http://www.wdwmagic.com/other/mymagicplus/news/26mar2014-mymagic-fastpass-and-magicbands-to-be-available-to-offsite-day-guests-next-week.htm

Very interesting. So the public has the same benefit of FP+ as Annual Passholders?

Hopefully the benefits for onsite and AP will change for the better as well.

Well as of right now the only person that has more is a person staying at a Disney resort. Disney did start out with AP holders at 60 days but reduced it will be interesting to see what else changes later this year as they are supposedly doing more later this year.
