I know I've been a voice of discontent lately...makes me sad...but I really don't see my family ever using this. $15/person for Genie + and then another $15 for Rise... and that's an extra $120 for a family of four at Hollywood Studios without even factoring in a IA$ for MMRR. It's just so frustrating when they had a system that was free and allowed you to pick a return time and modify the return time. And then they try to sell the new by making it seem like the customer asked for it.
You wouldnt have to pay both. Just buy ROR.

Genie plus and the per ride fees ..no thanks. The regular Tix cost enough for our family of 4 and we've been there often enough that if we miss a ride oh well, maybe next time. Really not happy with the direction Disney is heading...
Just remember, demand is driving it. Demand is > than available spots. It's crazy yes but is what it is.

Ok I’m still confused with when you purchase each. Do genie plus & IA$ both get purchased day of? If there anyway to pre-buy genie plus or you add it separately every day?
ETA: I just read that you can add genie + to your ticket before you arrive. So is IA all day of only?

Disneyland Park
  • Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
Disney California Adventure Park
  • Radiator Springs Racers
  • WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure
Individual purchase attractions for Disneyland revealed on the Disneyland website. Attraction list for Genie+ is the rest of the rides that were FP/MP previously.

Also can we get a new name for these a la carte attractions, upcharge, individual, whatever? Too confusing. They should have just called the regular paid access Genie and the upcharge ones Genie+.

Yep. No more advanced booking.

BREAKING: PRICES Revealed for Pay-Per-Ride Attractions in Disney World

Pricing:
  • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train – $10-$12
  • Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure – $9-$11
  • Expedition Everest – $7
  • Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance – $15
I'm late to the party because I was packing for Aulani all day yesterday ;)

I actually thought the prices on this would be much higher.

I can't see my husband and I using this often since we visit so frequently, but if I visited with my super star wars fan Mom who goes maybe every other year, I'd pay for Rise and maybe a few other things to keep her in shorter lines.

Pleasantly surprised I guess?

Yeah thinking they used Paris as the barometer for the limits they could consider charging and adjusted how they launched in WDW accordingly. We’ll see how much it fluctuates during peak times but definitely lower than I was anticipating.

Have a great time at Aulani!!!

If you purchase Genie+ BEFORE day of you must purchase it for length of stay, if you buy Genie+ day of you can buy each day, that day (12:00 AM purchase window start), individually.

Noooo!! That’s literally the day I get there. I don’t want to be the guinea pig.

You mean Genie-Pig :rotfl:. I would definitely avoid Magic Kingdom that day or plan to purchase it as all the bloggers will be testing it out.

Oh ok. So I know you can start at 12am. But if you get to the parks & decide wait times are longer than you expected, can you purchase it right then & there in the park?

Touring Plans just updated the crowd calendar for the rest of October through pre-Thanksgiving, and honestly, park guests may not need to buy Genie+. Our entire vacation (October 23rd thru November 2nd) all went down on the crowd calendar from 5's to 1 to 2's on weekdays and a 4 on weekends. I hope they are right about the crowds. I am going to pay attention to the reports that will definitely come out from places like TP and other blogs and may purchase Genie+ for one of my last days at MK on our trip if the crowds get too crazy.
Here now, and I agree completely with this comment and with TP's decrease on the Crowd Calendar. I was prepared for a hurricane of people for the 50th, but it's been MUCH slower than I anticipated.

Did MK last Wednesday and HS on Thursday. Listed wait times have been low, and actual wait times are even less. Haunted Mansion was listed at 45 minutes about about 5pm, but was actually a walk-on. ROTR was about 110-120 for most of the day, but down to 50 minutes at about 6pm, and only took about 35 minutes. Both much less than I had anticipated.

Before we left for our trip, I was upset that Disney couldn't get G+ together for the 50th, but unless things change soon (i.e. in the next week), I am not missing any kind of ride-skipping at all right now.

Good for me, but probably bad for Disney...

Maybe Disney set the start date for Genie based on the data they have - resort reservations, date-based tickets, park pass reservations, ADRs - showing them that there will be relatively low attendance during the initial period. I think it would be better to implement a big change like this when there aren't so many guests coming in.

Maybe. Maybe Disney secretly knew that the 50th was going to be a bust. But considering that just yesterday, TP just dramatically dropped their attendance projections from 4's and 5's this week to 1's and 2's for next week, it seems like nobody else did.

Maybe nobody else had access to Disney's data!
