DLP park tixx are cheaper than WDW. If I bought a DLP ticket, how many $10 FPs could I buy before my expense matched a WDW ticket? 3 or 4 probably?
I just looked it up... DLP 4 day unlimited access to both parks is $305.60 total cost. I was goingcompare same dates but DLP 4 day ticket is not date based... so I just used the date for WDW I was going to use, the same date as my upcoming trip, 7/24. Including the WDW PH option since the DLP allows for this (not a great comparison tho since PH 4 parks vs. 2) the WDW ticket is $566.63 resulting in a difference in $261.03. Dividing this remaining $ up over 4 days @ $10 /FP? means 6 fastpasses per day... If instead we use the value of 1-park-per-day, then the savings @ DLP only allows for 9 FP total, 2 FP per day and 3 for the last day.
Clearly, you are paying for something different at DLP vs WDW. However, I do think this illustrates how these perks were already baked in to the cost @ WDW. Ive only been going regularly for 5 years now, and not only have park tickets nearly doubled in cost a but I swear that food as well as resorts have gone up well over 50%. With this type of pay-as-you-go system, it essentially doubles the cost of admission in order to experience the park as we could previously; or more accurately of late, a watered down experience devoid of many previous perks.
On top of this, I will hate it if the cost is to be incremental and repeated, pay-as-you-go... I can imagine if they raised tickets prices by some ungodly amount (which they will probably still do anyway), I would be upset, figure out how to make it work... and then eventually go enjoy my vacation, but to cough up more $$ at each and every turn? Along side the cost of food? after paying for transfer to the resort from MCO? Only to have less time in the parks? Im not saying I wont do it to some extent, because I will... (I know, Im part of the problem) but I honestly think Disney would be better off getting people to pay for "premier" access up front in WDW. I can imagine that DLP is very different in regards to this, short trip less planning, less to do and see... it makes sense. but in WDW? Hell no.
Also, WDW is NOT Universal or Cedar Point... If you want to make Universal an experience comparable to Disney? You stay a few days... which means if you want this access, you stay deluxe to get free access. If you stay one day? then you cough up the money because it is (maybe) reasonable to pay for a single day...
