Disney News, Discussion & an Element of Fun!

Wasn’t sure where to post this, but it’s certainly an “element of fun “
After around 50 trips , this was the first time I ever booked a Disney package! Always had APs in the past or booked hotel and tix separately - did a package for our July trip, and this was in our mail today

Too cute and the kids love them ! Also received some vouchers - assuming this is standard for packages ? Great surprise !

I got one of these for the very first time on the trip I just got back from, but they left it in my room at the GF instead of mailing them to me. My “package” was an odd ticketless one they did for 2020 recoveries iirc.

One quick relevant thought on waiting for things to reopen: We're here now and compared to Universal, Disney is absolutely rocking things right now. Universal was an absolute mess- everything open to full capacity (shops, dining, etc) but not enough staff to fill it. While it's a bummer we still have things closed at Disney, experiencing Universal with the opposite approach of opening more before they had the staff to handle it, I think is actually a positive on Disney's part. Our experience today at HS/MK was so smooth in comparison even just for simple things like not having to wait 30-45 minutes in line for a bottled water. Just wanted to share that, I know the slow news has been rough because we all want things back! But being here and experiencing the two approaches back to back... I think Disney's right to wait until they're done training/hiring!
Those food lines are crazy. I was joking with my wife this morning that the real benefit for the early hour into the parks was to get food without a wait.

why is this. Is there because there is not enough restaurants open and lack of staff?
I think it’s a combination of that and the fact that there are no capacity restrictions / reservation requirements for the parks right now. But that’s just an observational guess.

A similar thing is happening at two local theme parks near me. One park is accepting a large capacity of people but is understaffed, so lines for rides and food are 60+ minutes. Another park is still accepting a low capacity, and guests are enjoying short lines for everything. Guess which park we are going to on our vacation.

Disney is doing the right thing. I do hope they bring back fast pass, shows, and parades soon though.

Not sure if this sort of news is welcome or not in this thread, but here goes. The husband of one of my oldest friends (we go back to church nursery) just got a job at Disney World in supply and logistics for the resorts. I guess theoretically that could give me access to insider info on when the rest of the resorts might open, but I don't like to use people that way.

Yeah as of a month or so ago, Sesame Place was accepting a decent amount of people into the park but only had about half the rides running and none of their pre-covid overflow rides (when the water park isn’t running). Went twice and it was just a bad experience both times. I hope Disney doesn’t get greedy and end up with a similar situation.

A treasured long-term friendship is something worth keeping.
There's no need to pass on things you know are private or confidential.
Congratulations to your friend's husband on their new position.

From plenty of posts on the board it seems that Disney is allowing a high capacity of people with nowhere for them to eat or go (limited shows, limited restaurants). Which is causing long waits for food and long lines for rides. I haven’t been since covid so I go by what I read here.

Yes. that was a huge problem when we went in September last year. It did get better as they opened things up more but they still need to get the rest open.

We were at the Disney parks through Thursday and have been at universal since. I will say that the universal parks just feel much busier and more crowded. We never waited more than 30 min using mobile order from putting our order in to actually picking up food at Disney, although we were generally not focused in on a specific quick serve location. Reservations and walk up lists for sit down restaurants didn’t feel any different availability wise than pre-covid.

We paid for breakfasts at the HP restaurants both mornings just so we could ensure our kids got a frozen butterbeer each day. There was NO way I would wait in the lines we saw for them otherwise. Food lines were insane

I just read an article this morning that universal's dining was so messed up because they required people to have a table before they mobile ordered? and food wasn't allowed to go? I can see why it sucked so bad.
