Guess they didn't specify but it looked like a replacement for HEA...
This is not news. They've had a new fireworks show in the works for a very long time, pretty much public knowledge. A couple of months ago they were mapping the castle for the projections.

This is why I've been saying since the day this came out that HEA would not return after the anniversary and exactly why I have a trip planned for next month so we could see it one last time.

Two New Nighttime Spectaculars and Much More Will Debut Oct. 1 to Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World Resort

A new nighttime spectacular, “Disney Enchantment,” will help kick off the 50thanniversary festivities when it debuts Oct. 1 at Magic Kingdom Park. Created to launch with “The World’s Most Magical Celebration,” this evening extravaganza will take you on a journey filled with adventure, wonder and empowerment. Inspiring everyone to believe in magic, “Disney Enchantment” will feature music, enhanced lighting, stunning fireworks and, for the first time, immersive projection effects that extend from Cinderella Castle down Main Street, U.S.A.

There’s also new daytime entertainment stirring at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Check out this artist rendering of “Disney KiteTails,” which will come alive several times daily at the Discovery River Amphitheater beginning Oct. 1. Performers will fly windcatchers and kites of all shapes and sizes, while out on the water elaborate three-dimensional kites – some stretching to 30 feet long – will depict Disney animal friends, including Simba, Zazu, Baloo and King Louie. These colorful creations will dance through the sky to the beat of favorite Disney songs in an uplifting, vibrant experience for the whole family.

I think we can get the gist of it from the picture alone - going to be a 50th fireworks/projection show (replacing HEA, at least for 18 months) that includes projections on main street. I can only imagine the extreme crowding on Main St for this show!

They have been using Main Street projections for a while now at DLR and it is amazing! It's better than watching fromthe hub as you are surrounded by the action. Of course, Main Street is smaller at DLR and closer to the castle, but it should still be a cool effect!

Yeah the whole "announcement" really wasn't anything surprising, other than the Magic Makers giving trips to people who made a difference.

Oooh, AK show - daytime in the ROL tehater. Looks neat!

This introvert likes watching fireworks from behind the castle by SD. Maybe I'll just watch it on video...

They need to start doing the projections in alternate locations, like at DL where you can watch at the Rivers of America (on water screens) or on It's A Small World. MK doesn't have as many great locations, but they could figure it out.

Yeah that announcement is kind of “meh” to us Disney fans who knew most of it. But I guess the GMA segment is for those ppl who don’t follow the Disney news like us fanatics.
Agreed. I understand the pain for those just now realizing HEA is only back for a very short time, I've been sad about it for months! On the bright side, I didn't think it would be back at all. I didn't think we'd see fireworks until the new anniversary show started. I had no plans to return at all until everything was back to normal, but a chance to see HEA again when I didn't think I ever would is almost more tempting than I can stand.
