Wait, I just realized they announced a new Mickey cavalcade starting Oct 1st. Does that mean no parades? Are parades permanently a thing of the past? There's really no reason they can't have parades...except money I guess.

Oh no - did they announce it on GMA? We love the parades, but not because we normally watch them. We do rides then since lines are usually a little better!

Anytime we feel lackluster over the Disney stuff, think of where we were a year ago I quite literally cry daily over the progress of my happy place! A celebration this huge takes times and to plan during a pandemic, when they were losing SO MUCH money, that's insane! I am happy they haven't decided to push it back or scale it down or something silly. It's going to be amazing and I'm glad we aren't' going until January to give this mega excitement 3 months to calm down lol

For Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary on October 1, 50 new gold statues will debut throughout the theme parks.

They can do both. The Move it Shake it parade was not much more than a cavalcade anyway.

This makes me even more happy we bought Boo Bash tickets for October so we can rides the rides...something tells me we are going to have to camp out on Main Street during regular hours!

I asked DH if he wanted to do Boo Bash this year for that reason, but it was a pass for him. I was on the fence just to be able to ride rides. It's a good plan because it is going to be sooooo crowded!

I wonder how Disney will adapt dessert parties in MK, if they come back, since it seems like the previous viewing area will miss out on some of the effects.

If it's like DL, it's not really necessary to see everything as what is on Main Street is essentially the same as what is on the castle. It just offers a better view for those further back.

I noticed this too. I have a feeling cavalcades might be sticking around for awhile.

Mice Chat posted that Disneyland is bringing back Magic Happens (rumor but Mice Chat is usually right when it comes to Disneyland) as soon as they can for summer so I don't think parades are entirely a thing of the past at the parks... but maybe one just isn't returning to MK just yet? Or they'll wait to announce it? Magic Happens did only get to run for two weeks before COVID shut the whole thing down so I'm sure that's also part of the motivation to get that back up ASAP.

I hope not, but it would save them money so.....Thing is, parades are people eaters and calvalcades are not. What WDW desperately needs is entertainment to draw crowds from the lines.

Wow, a real picture! The barges actually look nice lit up!

The Harmonious pic looks great, but something is out of perspective. Using the Pagota in Japan as a reference, those barges seem incredibly small compared to the real daytime pics we have been seeing for months.

I think the new nighttime show at the MK is going to be awesome, but I will surely miss HEA! I cannot imagine the madness on Main Street when that show starts.
