I think it's set at 2 in order to stop an influx of guests hopping to HS to get in the VQ at 1.
That seems to be why, but it's frustrating all the other parks are affected.
I'm a huge SW fan and GE is one of my favorite places, but this is one of my biggest peeves right now.
There's gotta be a better way. Last year with limited hours, it made hopping useless. It's a little better now, but we didn't buy hoppers for our June trip because of the additional cost, but mostly because of the 2 p.m. restriction.

Edited to add: e.g. they could experiment with adding more drops, run data for a couple of months see when people are more likely to try for a BG. Why limit it to 2 boarding groups? Spread it out a bit.

Easy fix, don't require people to be in the park for the 2nd drop. It's been out long enough, why still require that fpr the 2nd drop? Dlr doesn't and even their hopping at 1 is annoying and too late imo.

That would make the afternoon VQ just as difficult to obtain as the morning. From everything I read, there’s much less demand in the afternoon because you have to be there. It really cuts back on people getting to ride twice and others missing out completely.

The 2pm limit really doesn’t affect us much as on a normal day, we wouldn’t hop until we’ll after 2 anyway.

I still wonder why they continue to use the virtual queue for Rise. Originally it was because it couldn't handle the demand, but now with a still limited capacity, it seems to make sense for them to open the standby queue :confused3

You don't have to be in the park, just had to have scanned into the park at some point that day.
They already have the solution, you must have a park reservation for HS that day to be eligible. So anybody hopping there wouldn't be able to try.
Also, you can't get a BG twice in one day.

It still can't handle the demand. Over on the ROTR board a few weeks ago it had it's best day ever. Roughly 70% of people are getting BGs and even when it called the most BGs ever (~130)... Still didn't call everyone.

Interesting. We never tried for the afternoon, I just thought you had to be in the park to actually get one. But I agree, as I said originally, I think they set the 2pm hopping because of the VQ for ROTR.

You've never had to be in the park to get a BG.

They may have done it that way to discourage anyone from thinking they could try. But realistically it shouldn't matter at all if anyone was able to hop there before the drop, because they wouldn't be able to try anyway.

I feel like maybe I should know the answer to this, but who is Scott Gustin? 🤷🏼‍♀️
i was wondering that to

i seen that he said in august there could be a lot of Disney park news

but is he normally right

According to Linked In, he's a news editor/manager for Nexstar Media, but he is also a Disney fan. He tweets a lot of information about Disney. He has been a pretty reliable source for information. So when he says news is coming, it's usually a safe bet it's coming.

He's definitely a reliable source, he usually knows info before it drops and is typically correct. I'm guessing it'll be FP related?

Wow, didn't realise it was still not able to handle the demand
