Disney News, Discussion & an Element of Fun - 2024 Edition

I’ll actually be in Tokyo in November and WDW in January and I’ve never rode Splash so I am planning to ride both. If you want an objective take from someone who has no pre-existing sentiments towards SM stay tuned. However, my guess is that my review will be “they’re both fine”.

Oh, and I’ve never seen Tiana or whatever the heck Splash is based on. So really, coming in with a clean slate.

In Tokyo now, will be at TDR in a couple of weeks. Definitely riding Splash and their Space Mountain twice. Never liked FEA, so after riding it in Fantasy Springs, I’m sure it will be an even bigger disappointment.

I hope you have a great time! Ds absolutely loved Splash. We rode it like 5 times lol. He’s tall enough for their Space but not the one in Orlando so we rode that too. I actually liked Peter Pan more than Frozen. It’s a lot of fun.

This concept art feels like, to me, that the project has changed from a DinoLand retheme to a whole new land (starting from the area between Africa and Pandora). The original tweet saying that it will have animals is the big seller of my theory.

Then again, it could be concept art that was done a while ago, perhaps before Joe Rhode returned.

The second image doesn’t really look like the entrance to the Indiana Jones retheme of DINOSAUR.

It's a new land replacing Dinoland. Here is the original concept art from 2023 D23. The circles are showing the areas the leaked concept art would be in the new land. 1 is obviously the Casita. 2 is the entrance to Tropical Americas, not the entrance to Indiana Jones

Continued Downtime Plagues Tiana’s Bayou Adventure During Early Previews at Magic Kingdom

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure previews are off to a rocky start, with hours of downtime, ride evacuations, and premature preview cancelations as crews try to fix whatever it is that’s broken. We covered an evacuation of the ride yesterday, less than an hour after Cast Member previews for the ride began. As it turns out, the ride has faced hours and hours of downtime during early preview opportunities over multiple days.

According to Cast Members who were scheduled to attend this afternoon’s preview, previews have been paused for the rest of the day following an evacuation of the ride earlier today. Word is that previews were also canceled yesterday evening, BlogMickey.com has reached out to Disney World for more information, but Disney has not responded. We’ll be sure to update the article if we receive a statement.

From the outside looking in, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure has clear early reliability issues. The ride has undergone weeks of testing, but it looks like there are either new or unfixed issues from the testing that are causing some serious ride reliability issues. We’re hopeful that Disney World is able to get the ongoing issues ironed out by the June 28th opening date (if not sooner).

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure did not receive any notable or significant ride system changes from the days of Splash Mountain, and it shows. In its waning years, Splash Mountain experienced a number of reliability issues, including no less than three separate incidents when the log ride vehicles sunk.

Thankfully, there are no reports of sinking logs for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, but ongoing reliability issues are a concern. From what we could see during construction, ride sensors were upgraded or worked on, but it’s not immediately clear if sensor issues are causing the downtime or some other issue. A number of all-new Audio-Animatronics have also been installed, perhaps complicating the show readiness and reliability of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

VIDEO: ‘Dreams That Soar’ Drone Falls From Sky Into Water at Disney Springs

TikTok user @crispy_bacon04 shared the following clip with the falling drone. It happened when the drones were arranged like the Death Star from “Star Wars.”

The video zooms in on the drone, which falls from the bottom of the formation and into the water. It’s still lit and seems to be falling slowly like it’s trying to stay up.

I don't think that WDW can simply re-paint the existing buildings / structures, and then sprinkle in a few elements, add several new attractions and call this a new land. At least, that would be colossally dumb.

The creatives are going to have to demo things or make material changes to existing buildings so that this feels like a new land. That costs money. So, my hunch, and it's pure speculation, is that there is going to be a real fight between CMs at WDI and TWDC between creativity and budget.

I think the poster just really wants to see Tropical Americas placed on the West side of the park rather than on the land where Dinoland is (that's what's meant by "a new land"). But there's no evidence for that, imo

Yes, but we never know what else goes on.

Except Disney have outright said Tropical Americas is replacing Dinoland. The explansion space between Pandora and Africa is rumored to have a Lion King boat ride based on the one "rumored" to be coming to Disney Adventure World, but Lion King is a loose rumor. At the moment, we can only go with what Disney have announced

We'll see. Plans can still change, like with the Epcot stuff that never got off the ground.

It sounds like you're upset that they're planning to replace an attraction you like, which is fine, but you did the same thing after they announced that Tiana was replacing Splash Mountain.

There really is nothing wrong with thinking positively about changes.
There is one problem with that though: he doesn't want this change (Indiana Jones replacing Dinosaur), he wants them to put Indy somewhere else and keep Dinosaur. That's what's driving this.
