Disney News, Discussion & an Element of Fun - 2023 Edition

I never understood the DDP, it was obviously making LOTS of money for Disney so I get why they always made it look like a great deal, but it really wasn't unless you got the most expensive restaurants, ate the most expensive items, and in general ate way too much food. Much better choice to take a room discount instead.

I get that prepaying for food helps budget, but I used to tell people to put the money that the DDP would cost you on a Disney gift card, then if you have leftover money you can use it, rather than having 20 snack credits left for the family to use on your next to the last day. I'm willing to bet most people would have money left.
Completely agree. When it's free, it's great. But as it stands there's nothing about it that interests me. People say it's convenient, but now I have to keep track of points which is more stressful to me. It might be easy on the app now, but the last thing I need on a Disney vacation is more to worry about.

I don’t like it either, it’s rarely a savings and then I felt forced to pick highest price both food and location, since otherwise you were losing money. Not worth it at all.

When it was offered originally, way back when, since we only did adult trips, we liked it. Didn't always use if for the TS every day, but often used 2 allotments for the Signature meals a few times during the stay. We liked the convenience, and usually got value out of it.

Of course, everyone's mileage may vary, but that's the way we did it and it worked for us. I would certainly do the math when it is available again, and weigh all the options, including my AP discount, which I didn't have back then.

Like it or not, it's a choice that no one is forcing. I've seen on some forums, (not here, thankfully) how people are just getting downright rude and personal with attacks when others don't agree one way or the other... glad it's not like that here.

I always enjoyed it when we had it. It really made it feel like you were on vacation, money isn't real, it's all fun & games! I'm sure it didn't necessarily always make the most financial sense, but I get the appeal.

You are right on though, it's a choice for everyone. I get why people use it, I know why I no longer do.

No pretty much now it’s just
Parade at noon & 3pm
Adventure Friends in the 5 o’clock and 6 o’clock hour

Hopefully they bring something back asap. As added some spontaneous fun to the day.

Can they bring back the move it mousekedance it street party. As that only ended due to covid then was replaced with the 50th

Intresitinly there is still a webpage for Move it mouseket on WDW website. just says temporally unavailable

Depends on how you think I guess, It drives me batty to know I just overpaid for the meal I actually wanted. Sure its convenient to feel like its all paid off, but to pay more in the end is just not worth it to many nor is the amount of food.

I really hope they still have these by the end of the month.
I was hoping they'd release it later than May, since they aren't even doing the full 100th Anniv celebrations until Fall. I'm not there until July, so I'm sure they won't be available then. You might have a chance though. Hope you get one!

EDIT: I was hoping to get this one and the Guardians of the Galaxy Skyliner Bucket. Not even sure the skyliner one is still available at Epcot. Anyone know?

It was there last week when I was there on tues & wed. (guardians)

When my kids were younger we'd get the DDP and use it on character meals and use 2 credits for signature restaurants we'd never go to otherwise. We enjoyed all our meals and it was nice to have a mid-day TS meal to rest and get out of the heat. BUT - as much as I'd try to plan it all out, we were always stuck with tons of credits at the end of the trip and spending it on Goofy candy. This is the first time in a long time we will not have a dining plan. We will eat a lot more CS meals, snacks and popcorn I'm sure. And I'm totally okay with that!
