(Received as a push notification on MDE)

It looks like the latest MDE update won’t show the next available times for Genie+ during early entry. This is once you have already selected an attraction. It’s not huge, but it may make it more difficult to decide if you should head to an early Genie+ selection to have a better chance of getting the next one you want at a reasonable time. Noticed this in the park this morning. I had updated MDE, but DH hadn’t. They were showing different data.

iCan Robot Continues to Entertain Guests at EPCOT Past Initial Limited-Time Run

Guests visiting EPCOT, and more specifically the World Discovery section of the park, can still find iCan roaming around from time to time. The iCan roaming robot was initially introduced to the Disney World theme parks in Tomorrowland back in 2016 for a year-long run but was recently reintroduced to the parks thanks to the debut of the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind roller coaster.

iCan is a third-party offering but is always popular with guests visiting EPCOT. Originally contracted through the end of June, we’re told the iCan contract continues to be extended a few weeks at a time thanks to positive guest feedback. iCan roams World Discovery throughout the day and can usually be found near Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind or Mission: SPACE.

Polynesian Tower Construction Update - July 2022

Luau Cove has now been completely removed on the site which will eventually host the new Disney Vacation Club tower at Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows.

Ground has been cleared on the site of the forthcoming Polynesian tower as crews prepare to begin vertical construction. The images below showcase the site moving from east to west, from the current Polynesian facilities toward Disney's Wedding Pavilion and Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

Earlier this year Disney Vacation Club revealed plans to build a new tower on the site with an expected opening date in 2024.

Matterhorn Bobsleds to Close for Refurbishment on August 8

The Matterhorn Bobsleds will be closing for refurbishment on August 8th, and there is no reopening date listed on the Disneyland website.
We're visiting DL for the first time next month and I'm quickly gaining a better understanding of the disappointment WDW guests who visit once/infrequently feel when attractions are closed during their stay. So far Matterhorn and Haunted Mansion have been announced as being closed during our visit. :(

I looked up historical info of closing Matterhorn and it can be short or long, so no idea if it will be open for our mid-August trip or not.

While disappointing, thankful to be able to gear our expectations now. We were really looking forward to visiting HM after watching the Behind the Attraction show on Disney+.

I'm beginning to think it will be long. I think with Splash Mountain going down soon, Disney is likely taking the opportunity to do a long refurbishment now so two mountains don't have to be closed at the same time. Seeing how early in August it is closing, I wonder if that means Splash will close around October/November. (Just my speculation)
