Disney World Renews Tradition of Suing Orange County Property Appraiser Over Taxes

In the numerous lawsuits filed recently, Disney claims that “the assessment does not represent the just value” of the properties in question and that the just value “exceeds the market value” – a violation of the Florida Constitution, Disney contends.

Disney paid the taxes in full but maintains that the payment does not represent an agreement over the amount. Here’s a list of a few of the properties that Disney disputes the just value of, as well as the amount of taxes paid for the property.

Park Hours Extended for Magic Kingdom and EPCOT in July 2022​

Walt Disney World has extended hours for Magic Kingdom and EPCOT on most days in July 2022. We previously reported on some extended hours for June and July.

Magic Kingdom​

Magic Kingdom will still open at 9:00 a.m. daily throughout July. It will now close an hour later, at 11:00 p.m., on July 5 – 18, 20, 22 – 25, and 27 – 30. It will still close at 10:00 p.m. on July 19, 21, and 26.

Extended evening hours for deluxe resort guests will begin at 11:00 p.m. on July 6, 13, 20, and 27.

EPCOT​

EPCOT will now open at 8:30 a.m. from July 3 through July 30. Early entry for resort guests will then begin at 8:00 a.m.
The park will continue to close at 9:00 p.m.

• July 3-30: Park hours extended 8:30am to 9pm (previously 9am to 9pm)

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Real-Life Doc Hudson Hornet Heads to Auction​

In August, automative auction house Gooding & Company will put the vehicle up for bidding at Pebble Beach Auctions. According to a release from Gooding & Company, the “Cars” team used the replica as a one-of-a-kind during promotions for the 2006 film. Not only does the vehicle feature an autograph by Paul Newman, the voice of Doc Hudson, the car also comes equipped with a Twin H-Power engine, originally not available during the car’s first relaese year of 1951.

EPCOT Pushes Back Harmonious Start Time To Accommodate “Harmonious Live” Event on June 21st

On Tuesday, June 21st, Harmonious will be pushed back 10 minutes to a 9:10pm start time. Typically, Harmonious is shown at 9pm sharp. The adjustment in start time is likely to allow for some sort of intro for the Harmonious Live event that will stream live on Disney+ starting at 9pm ET.

Multiple Performances CANCELED in Disney’s Hollywood Studios Today

During our trip to Hollywood Studios today, we were met with a sight no Disney World guest wants to see: Cast Members standing in a line in front of the entrance of an attraction/show. If you’re not familiar with this scenario, it usually means that the attraction or show is down. And today, we noticed they were in front of the Beauty and the Beast — Live on Stage Show.

When we spoke with the Cast Members, they advised that the 11AM show was canceled, with the possibility of more cancelations to come.

But that’s not the only cancelation in Hollywood Studios today. The Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular is also experiencing some issues. The first performance was canceled mid-show, and Cast Members told us that the temple walls aren’t working.

They said the crew “will get the problem fixed,” and encouraged guests to return to the 1:15PM, 3:15PM, and 4:30PM showtimes.

Walt Disney World Restaurants Increase Side Dish Prices by 50%​

Many Walt Disney World restaurants have increased the price of their standard sides, including french fries, by 50%.

Many sides have recently gone from $2.99 to $4.49. This is noticeable at quick-service restaurants that offer separate sides. French fries used to be $2.99 but are now $4.49.

We’ve seen frequent price increases at both quick-service and table-service restaurants recently. In January of this year, prices went up at almost every food and beverage location at Walt Disney World Resort.

Don't give me supply chain, inflation, or anything else. A 50% increase is corporate greed.

With a very strong thunderstorm in the area right now its likely that more shows will be canceled

I saw it too. It was good but not quite as good as I was hoping it would be. It felt a little rushed maybe, and it is a long movie for animation. Still, it was very pretty, overall enjoyable, and I liked how they kept a lot of the Buzz Lightyear lore, like Crystalic Fusion and the Universe Protection Unit.

Here's the scary part---- I think its only 1Hr 40 mins--- I dont know about you, but I think I looked at my watch 15 mins in, and thought we were in the theatre for an hour already- the beginning was very slow, at least IMHO

Yes it is very hot! The storms actually have helped cool it off. Could very well be the heat advisory closing the shows over the storms.

Disney Cancels More Finding Nemo Shows Into Next Week as Performers Reportedly Fall Ill

Disney World has taken the step of canceling more Finding Nemo: The Big Blue..and Beyond! shows into next week as performers reportedly are falling ill. Up until today, Disney was cancelling shows on the day of their performance, but Disney has now removed the 10:30am and 4:30pm showtimes through Monday, June 20th. The showtimes are currently set to return on Tuesday, June 21st.

Crews Continue Working on TRON Lightcycle Run Walkways, Tomorrowland Light & Power Co., and Walt Disney World Railroad at Magic Kingdom​

Crews are working hard on several areas of TRON Lightcycle / Run in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom, in addition to the canopy lighting testing which has been occurring recently.

Walt Disney World Resort Hotels to Participate in the "World's Largest Swimming Lesson" on June 23​

Walt Disney World recently confirmed that select on-site resorts will participate in the World's Largest Swimming Lesson on Thursday, June 23, offering select Guests the opportunity to enjoy this experience alongside those at aquatic centers, water parks and pools around the globe.

Led by a Walt Disney World Cast Member, Guests will learn important water competency and safety skills while taking part in this unique offering. Guests staying at the following Disney Resort hotels are invited to participate:

• Disney's All-Star Movies Resort Guests can participate at the Fantasia Pool
• Disney's Polynesian Village Resort Guests can participate at the Lava Pool
• Disney's Pop Century Resort Guests can participate at the Computer Pool
• Disney's Wilderness Lodge Guests can participate at the Copper Creek Springs Pool
• Disney's Yacht and Beach Club Resort Guests can participate at Stormalong Bay

Registration for Guests staying at the above resorts will begin at 8:45 a.m., and the lesson will begin promptly at 9 a.m. Capacity will be limited, so Guests should arrive early to secure their spot. Guests may visit www.wlsl.org for more information about the global event.

"Amaze" Parking Lot to Be Closed for Repaving at EPCOT Starting June 19, 2022​

Beginning on Sunday, June 19, EPCOT's parking operations will be adjusted to allow for repaving work in the Amaze Guest lot, which is expected to continue through approximately Friday, July 1. All work will take place during third shift, with equipment staged in the Amaze Guest lot while the project is underway.

While work is taking place, Guests will be directed to the Journey lot. As portions of the Amaze Guest lot are completed, they will be returned to regular parking operations as needed.

Orlando Artist Everett Spruill Joins Disney Springs Art Walk at Walt Disney World​

A colorful painting by an Orlando area African American artist became the latest artwork added to the art murals at Disney Springs this week. Painter, photographer and printmaker Everett Spruill unveiled his latest creation depicting his signature artistic themes at the Disney Springs Art Walk: A Canvas of Expression.
