Disney needs to change their menu boards

I will say, though, that the way they had the kids meals listed was MADDENING. The menu stated you got the entree, and two sides of grapes or carrots, with milk or water to drink. In reality, you could get grapes, carrots, applesauce, fries, or a cookie, and any drink you wanted. It was that plus the fact that you got TWO sides that just confused guests (and kids!!) left and right.

Thanks for the CM perspective. That's exactly the issue I'm talking about.

I totally agree. A few years ago we were having lunch at Blizzard Beach. My kids both wanted burgers, one wanted a cheese burger, one wanted a hamburger. There were no burgers listed on the kid's menu, and only a double burger listed on the main menu. I asked if I could purchase the double burger, get the cheese on the side, and an extra bun. I was told I'd have to pay almost $5 for the extra bun because "Disney was trying to stop people from purchasing the double burger and a cheap extra bun" (these were the CMs words, not mine). I explained that my kids wanted a burger, but there was no way they could each eat a double burger by themselves, and that one wanted cheese and the other didn't, and that one of my sons is allergic to poultry so that leaves very little that he could have/wants on the kid's menu. She then tells me that I can get a "kids" burger meal and that you can also order a single burger if you don't want a double. None of that was listed on the menu and if I hadn't asked I would have either wasted a ton of money and food by purchasing the double burgers, or my kids would have had to settle for other items that they didn't really want off the kid's menu. Is it really that hard to list all that is available?????

They don't properly list the prices of the items that are on the board. I think they cause a lot of guests to spend a lot more money than necessary and get food items that they don't really want or need (which is probably exactly Disney's point).

Allergic to poultry? Never heard that one before,

I know I had never heard of it either. DH's family is allergic to all sorts of stuff, but none of them poultry. My son used to eat chicken all the time,then around age 4 he started having reactions. He would vomit, get a rash around his mouth, his lips swell, and he just feels very awful for about an hour after he eats chicken. At first we thought it was just chicken, but then he had the same reaction after eating a turkey sandwich. He is also allergic to most seafood. The worst part is that he is also a very picky eater, but loves chicken and seafood. Wouldn't you know it, some of the food he actually likes is off limits. Its so hard to feed this kid! I had never realized how few options there are for kids at CS locations in WDW till I had a child with these allergies. They've recently changed the hot dogs to a turkey mixture, so that's now off limits too. I'm so glad he is now 10, so can eat off the adult menus when we are on the dining plan, and he also now eats enough to justify getting him an adult meal when there is nothing he can have on the kid's menu!

Oh my gosh, I apoligize for laughing.
His allergic reaction sounds terrible.
With turkey or chicken being substituted for beef & pork in so many things, to lower the fat, it is really not a laughing matter.
I imagine he has learned to be quite a label reader.
Hope he outgrows it or something.
Seafood is too good to miss the rest of your life.

No apology necessary. Its quite the odd allergy.

We hope he outgrows it too. My hubby was allergic to shellfish growing up, but could eat fish. When he was a teenager the allergy changed. To this day he can eat shellfish, but can't eat certain fish that he used to be able to eat. So weird, that it completely switched like that.

And yes, Disney makes it very easy to eat with an allergy at the TS locations, but its the CS locations that have such limited options to begin with, then on top of that at least half the menu is usually items he can't have. Now that he's considered an adult, and can actually eat a whole adult meal by himself, I imagine it'll be much easier. Our CS locations pretty much revolve around places that have items other than burgers, like ribs and such. It can get tricky, but I know that it could be so much worse!

I have to say the kids meal thing is really weird.
Some times when my family is at wdw and someone isn't super hungry they just choose a kids meal instead. Now in-between our trips to the world Disney must had jumped on the "healthy" bandwagon because when we went to order a kids burger and fries it said they just had grapes and carrots for a side. I kinda joked with the casher and was like "aw man I can't have fries anymore" and she told us we could also choose fries or a cookie or heck if really want to you can choose double fries also. (don't get me wrong I choose carrots sometimes too)

So now we know,
and it's a good thing too because most of the time I have to explicitly ask what the sides are because sometimes there's no grapes or applesauce or something weird....But really how would any one know otherwise?!?! If I hadn't been to Disney when fries were an option I would have never joked about it and thus never knew those options existed...
(And they do pretty much exist everywhere because most QS places have fries...for the adult meals and cookies...for people getting dessert on the dining plan)

I don't really care about if there is a price difference between side options but it would be nice to know what all the options are! I like to know my order before I get to the CM. (They could just print off menus for people to look at while they are in line, that way they could fit it all and you can read it all...I know they sometimes break out menus at pinocchio's pizza when it gets busy)
