I know that there are several services that will babysit while on vacation. I also know that there is only one that is recommended by Disney World. I can't remember the names of any. HERE IS THE ISSUE....HELP!!! We have our trip already planned and half paid for to Disney World in SEPTEMBER. on 1/19 we had a 2 month old placed in our home to HOPEFULLY adopt (still have a lot of court to go through and don't want to get my hopes up too much.):cool1: But, DS (4) and I were planning on going up 3 days before the rest of the family and playing ourselves for HIS birthday! He already knows it is happening so just not going up early isn't an option. I was considering hiring a Nanny to come with us and hold the baby, basically be a mother's helper while we were in the parks. I understand that I would have to pay her hourly rate, plus admission into the park and that really isn't an issue. I was wondering if anyone else had used any of these services in this capicity and what your thoughts were on this. THANKS!!!

ETA: DH can't just keep the baby with him because of the hours that he works and the fact that he will be working extra hours so he can be off for a week and half. He has one of those jobs where it is hard for him to leave.

Before you do any planning you will need to check with the "placement agency" to get permission to take the baby out of state (if the childs adotion has not been finalized). some agencies will not let you take the baby out of state until the adoption is finalized. I would check with them before making any vacation plans.

I have done all of that and I am fine taking him out of state. That isn't the issues. I just need to make sure that I have enough hands there. I can easily get a waiver for the out of state travel. In fact, they already know that he is going. :) But, thanks for looking out for us. Do you know anything about the various Nanny companies?

First, congratulations and good luck with the adoption! When are you going? How old will the baby be by then? You mention "family" coming 3 days after you and your son. Does this mean just your husband or other extended family? Any chance a family member would make the trip with you earlier and watch the baby for those first few days? Not sure about the nanny agencies, did you call WDW and ask? Good Luck!

I am sure that I have read of people having mothers helpers whilst at the parks.

Here is the Kids Nite Out website, it says "Mother’s and father’s helpers are a great hotel childcare service that let moms and dads enjoy the Sunshine State’s many amenities with their children, with a little help." There is a testimonial on their website too of a family that had somebody accompany them to the parks so they could take their older children on rides whilst the nanny/carer looked after the baby.

I have never used them so can't say if they are good or not, but they may have somebody to accompany you to the parks as an extra pair of hands. :goodvibes

Not sure about the nanny thing at Disney, but do you have a grandma or grandpa or aunt that would want to go and help out? That way they would get to love on the baby, and all you would have to pay out is for tickets.

You could definitely use Kids Nite out for this purpose, but it would be super expensive. If cost isn't an issue, then I think they would do a great job -- we used them once for my 18 month old and the woman we had was incredible.

If cost is an issue, I would try to find family or a friend to go with you -- honestly, I think buying a plane ticket and meals for another person would probalby be cheaper than using Kids Nite Out for that many hours, but I could be wrong.

I don't know about the Disney nannies but I agree that if you can bring an extra friend/family member along to take care of the baby then that would probably be easier on you and your wallet. Or could you leave the baby with a family member and then when they come to join you and DS, they can bring the baby with them?

Cautious congrats on your hopefully new baby!

My husband and a set of grandparents are coming up three days after we (the boys and I) leave. All of them have to work until the day before they leave. Grandma is a Hospice Nurse so time off is well, not easy to come by. Daddy can't leave any earlier, and Paw Paw is a truck driver and will be doing well to get time off just to go! Once they get there, we will have PLENTY of hands.

We are going in September. The baby will be 10 months and DS will turn 5 while we are there. I am not concerned about having the baby while at the hotel or swimming. The 4 year old is a certified swimmer and, although I would never take my eyes off of him in the water, he will be fine if I am not touching him! My concern is just getting DS-4 on and off of rides and having someone to accompany him when he is going to ride rides that they younger one isn't able to do. Personally, I would like to ride the rides and she can hold the baby. I don't suspect that we will last more than about 4-5 hours in the park so it isn't like we have the mother's helper with us 20 hours per day. And, I don't think that we will need them at Animal Kingdom because most of the rides that we are interested in don't have height restrictions. I need to check and make sure. I would love to just bring my niece or someone like that, but we are going in September and school is in session, so that isn't an option. Also, a concern that I have if I bring someone like that is that they don't realize that THEY are there to HELP me and think that they are on vacation of their own. I am going to check out Kids Nite Out and see what they have to offer. Hopefully, I can work something out. :)

How tall is your son? You can take the baby on every ride that doesn't have a height restriction. Could you do all the rides together the three of you and save the bigger rides until your husband gets there.

If not, then I have only heard good things about Kids Nite Out, we used Fairy Godmothers when we had a night out and they were very good as well.

Good luck with your adoption and I hope you all have a fantastic time in Disney.

I am thinking by the time of the trip Bit will be about 44 inches tall. That is kind of the plan for Animal Kingdom. To do the smaller rides and wait to DH gets there for the larger ones, but I was thinking that I might like a mother's helper with Magic Kingdom. Getting a baby brother out of nowhere (literally we got the call and an hour and a half later, we had a baby. We waited 3 years.) is enough of a change for him. I would love for him to be able to enjoy Disney World with Mom as planned before Dad and Grandparents arrive.

We have used a different service at Disney - I am going to try to remember the name, it was the 'other' company recommendend at the front desk besides Kids Night Out (which at the time was for older kids). That being said - I think that you would just need to get a sitter for one MK day - crowds are low at that time of year and you really just need the sitter to hit the bigger rides - SM, BTMRR, Splash, Barnstormer (if its open)...everything else is AWESOME for a 10 month old to join you and everyone will have a blast.

I dont know what the CORI rules are for your situation - whether you could leave the baby with the sitter at the hotel for half a day or not to avoid the park costs, but if that was allowed, I think you would make much better time if you went just with your older DS for a few hours and left the baby at the hotel!!! We got a key for our babysitter the night we went out so that they could take walks around the resort and play on the playground. DS was 11 months at the time!!

Yes, we are allowed to leave the baby with a sitter just like if he was our own child, but I am just a little nervous about that. As it stands, I want to take him with with us, but I may consider leaving him in the room with the sitter. They can play in the park and walk around, but time will have to tell with that one.

Could you leave the baby home and get a sitter for the hours DH is working? that way you and your older son could have some true alone time together. (especially nice because of the new changes w/ sharing mommy). You will most likely be busy chasing a new walker or cruiser and not really get to have the time you want with your older son. If it were an infant than they would probably be sleeping a lot, but a 10 mo. old will probably be on the move. I vote for leaving the baby home so you an your older son can have some time together!

Congrats on the new addition to your family, how exciting!

We used Kids Nite Out twice and they were great. They will take them to the park or watch the baby in the room. They're very good. I wonder if they would give you a discount because you'll be using them for several days? Keep in mind that they charge per child so if your sitter won't be watching your son as well (even though he'll be with you both), make sure you only pay the hourly rate for one child.

This coupon was mentioned on the DisUnplugged podcast recently: http://www.orlandocoupons.com/directory_view.php?dir_id=114

It's good for one hour off per day.

Congrats on the new addition. Good luck.
