I have seen talk of them here, so figured you guys might be able to help. I got the Tink MP3 player and I want to put CDs we already have on there. It is saying I need an encoder to do this though. Where do I get one? Is there one for FREE or very low cost on the Internet? Reading this booklet though, I assumed that the Windows Media Player 10 I installed with the player had it..but I guess not. So more money I have to spend here...ugh!

Thanks if you know where I can get this encoder or maybe I am doing something wrong here.

I don't have the Disney MP3 player, but if it's like any other player out there, here are some general basics - I'm working with Windows XP here:

1. Put the CD in the CD tray - you will be ripping this CD to your hard drive

2. In Windows Media Player 10, go to the tab that says RIP. Your CD should show up and it'll have all the tracks listed.

3. Go to Tools - Options then go to the Rip Music tab. Select the directory you want the ripped music to go (ie C:\mydocuments\mymusic) and then under Rip Settings, make sure you select mp3 as the format - then hit OK

4. Select the tracks you want copied, then click on Rip Music (upper right hand)

5. Once it's done ripping, go to the folder where the music is and make sure the songs have a .mp3 behind the name

6. Plug in the mp3 player to the computer - it'll show up as F:\LOCAL DISK or some other letter and name

7. Copy all the tracks that were in the music folder and paste it in the mp3 player's drive.

Done. Repeat with any other CDs you'd like to put in there. If Media Player doesn't work well or can't read the audio CD, you can always use this: http://www.dbpoweramp.com/bin/dMC-r10.exe

it's a great ripper, free, and works essentially the same way as Windows Media Player. If you need instructions on using that, let me know.

I would actually love one of these for myself. I would love to download all my Disney CD's to have them all in one place (and maybe also download other Disney music). I have absolutely no idea how these things work. My big questions is how much music can you get one one of these? I know there is talk about adding extra memory, but even with the extra memory, how many hours of music can you store. I know this is different than battery life. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Linda

oogieboogie! Your #3 doesn't work. It did work though when I changed that option to Window Audio or something. Either way, I got it to work and I love this little thing.

lpizzuro123! You can buy disks, the SD/MMC ones It hink they are called and put LOTS on there. I would assume you can have MANY of them with music on them, so really it is limitless, but limited at one time to what is internal and with one disk in at once. Just like changing a CD, you would change the disks. Plus they are tiny, so don't take up room!

weird, since WMP 10 is supposed to have the codecs to rip to mp3. Well, either way, if the MP3 player plays WMA that's good too.

I do find that sometimes Windows Media Player doesn't like to rip some of my CDs, that's why I use DBPoweramp more than WMP, but whatever works will be good! :)

I'm having a big problem. The directions say to connect the player to the USB port on my computer. The problem is it doesn't fit. The USB port is on the very far right of the computer tower and the case lip sticks out preventing me from plugging it in. I wonder if there is some kind of adapter cord? I could use our laptop, but all my other kids have their itunes downloaded on this computer for their ipod, and there is some somes we want to put on the mixstick.
Any suggestions??
Thanks!

you should have another USB port in the back of the computer. Can you reach it there? Can you move the tower at all so you can access the side USB port?

another alternative is if you have a network setup between all the computers in the house. If you can see the tower computer in your "my network places" and if the music folder is a shared folder and you can see it, you can control it from your laptop. This way is a little harder if you're not used to networking but not impossible.

WMP 10 came with the player actually, so that is what I am using. I am so clueless to this stuff.!

Subscribing so i can find the help I know I will need when my DD gets hers!

Well, I found all the Disney MP3 Player stuff at Target last night (headphones, cases, jukebox, extra music). Now I am not sure if I want this or if I should just get an iPod. I really like it but there is no place to see what song is playing. My boyfriends son has an iPod and I like that there is a screen that give you info on the song (title, artist). I'll have check out the iPod a little more and come to a final decision. Maybe I would just get the Disney one for all my Disney music.

If I were getting it for myself I would go ahead and spend the money for an IPOD. But I don't want to spend that kind of money for and IPOD for my DD 6. This little player will be prefect for her. And I am not out a lot of money is something happens to it. Which normally does over time.

I just figure I will listen to the song to know which one is playing..LOL! No need for a screen!

I got this one for my DD5. It isn't a gift though. I want to use it for the Disney trip, so we are using it now. She is getting the little jukebox thing and case to go with it though for Christmas. She really wants Raven though! So, I might have my mother get her her own player, have to think more on it. We will see how this holds up first I think. One of the little earbud covers is already torn up, just came apart..UGH! DOn't like the earbuds though anyway and will be using regular earphones.

Well, I do kind of agree with you but last night in my car I have a Disney CD - Music from the Park. It has all different Disney songs sung by different artists (Barenaked Ladies - Linda Ronstat - etc). I thought I might be interested in who is singing what. I also would love to download some music from different attractions in the park. I think you can get like the entrance music to Epcot and the Living Seas - but I am not sure. I would like to know what music this is in case I am not sure.

  Thank you!

Your instructions worked great! As MemoryMakers also mentioned, I was prompted to download an MP3 encoder, as well, in order to rip my tracks as MP3's. The ones at the download site ran about $10 each, but I skipped this and opted to rip as a WMA since my player is compatible. I am using Windows Media Player 10 BTW.

I just bought, in the last couple of weeks, the WDW 100 Years of Magic and the Disney Happiest Celebration on Earth CD's. My DH and I were pondering, just a couple of days ago, how to put them on my MP3 player. Your directions worked like a charm .. thank you so much :wizard: Now we can rock out to "There's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" on our long drive to Florida next month - LOL

I wanted to give a big THANK-YOU to oogieboogie. I had no idea there was another USB port on the back of the tower. We plugged it in and now it's all set to go.......son thanks you too!! :love1:

Suscribing to this so I know where to come back after Christmas when DD13 gets hers from her Ama.

Thanks for the awesome info!!!

I bought the tink one for my DD for Christmas. Please tell me what songs are on the clip. The box doesn't mention it but the ad in the Disney catalog said it had sample songs. I hope it's not blank. Let me know please. :flower:
