I'm considering signing up with the Disney Movie Club and was wondering if anyone here has any experience with it? And, does anyone know the shipping costs to Canada?

If you've been part of DMC, what did or didn't you like about it?
:)

Thanks!

We are thinking about joining too and am interested in the responses (although we live in the US.)

I think I just read somewhere this week that they were ending the DMC. Let me try to dig up where I might have seen that.

I have been a member for years. I long ago fulfilled my purchase obligation. Now once or twice a year I order when the movies are buy one get the rest 60% off. Sometimes I have free shipping too. They workout to be pretty cheap that way. I don't mind replying "no" each month to the featured title. I do it online. Most months the mailers have stuff my daughter likes, stickers etc

If you don't mind me asking, are you a resident of Canada?
I'm mostly curiously about shipping prices since they can be outrageous sometimes, but if it's never more than $5 I don't mind.

I have another question come to think of it, are the featured titles movies already listed on the website? Or is it something exclusive to the DMC for a limited time?

:yay:

Nothing is exclusive anymore. Sometimes things in "the vault" are still available, but that is until stock is depleted.

I am not in Canada. I have heard complaints on shipping time but I live in IL and I think they ship out of Wi

If you want to see the live site send me a pm

It's Disney Movies Online that's closing.

Dear Guest,

Disney Movies Online is closing on December 31st. As part of this change, purchases, upgrades, and Magic Code entries can no longer be made on the Disney Movies Online website. You can continue to stream your existing movies until December 31st.

You can still enter Magic Codes on DisneyMovieRewards.com, and Disney Movies Rewards services will not be interrupted. You can also continue to use your Disney member name and password to access and enjoy other Disney websites. In addition, if you purchased a Disney Combo pack with Digital Copy, your Digital Copy can still be transferred and watched from either iTunes or Windows Media Player. Please visit our FAQs for more details.

We truly appreciate your support of our service—we have enjoyed serving you!

Best regards,
The Disney Movies Online Team

Honestly I have no idea why I even got this email since I never used the service.

I do have the movie club since it was a cheap way to replace some of my VHS. The only thing I remember being a little fussy is making sure your future purchases count towards your commitment. Not everything did when I was going through it and I'm not sure how that goes now. I met my commitment like 3 years ago but never found a way to cancel the membership online and was honestly too lazy to call. Now I just get the mailers which go right in the garbage (a sad waste) and I respond to the featured title online. I don't bother canceling now because they almost always have a sale going on and if I can't find a deal at Target, I just get the movies from the site. As to the canadian shipping...I have no idea. I'm sure if you called them and said "I'm thinking of joining..could you tell me how it works for Canada?" they'll be more than happy to tell you.

ummm,I have it, and have one movie left to fulfill....be aware that while there are some good deals, to count towards your original contract, the movies are sold at full price. So... yes, it can save money on some titles, but you end up paying MORE for a movie (to fulfill # you MUST buy) so it all basically evens out in the end, unless you want a LOT of obscure movies that they sell cheap. WHich I did buy a few of those...:rotfl2: Basically,it's an annoyance to remember to hit 'NO' on the monthly mailer....once I did that, and they sent it anyway,so I had the hassle of calling and getting it mailed back to them (Lion King 2,really? who'd order that?:rotfl:)
upshot? it's ok, I've gotten a couple of cute freebies over time, from the rewards, but it's a hassle to remember. I probably won't do it again,as I don't like feeling obligated.
