Disney Movie Club

no and no

I say it's not worth it because I think the prices are just as high, if not higher, than say Target or Walmart. Plus, you have to pay shipping. I have been a member for a few years and somehow still have 1 movie to buy to fulfill my membership. I wanted to cancel but can't til I buy that 1 last movie!

Also, quite a few times I have not gotten the featured selection email and the movie gets shipped to me and of course your credit card gets billed when the movie ships, they don't bill you anymore. So once I get the movies I have to pay shipping to send them back plus they don't refund shipping.

You can't use coupons, but if you belong to any of the rewards programs like MyPoints or Sunshine Rewards you can usually get points/rewards if you join through them.

I don't know if it's worth it yet. We joined several months ago and still have 4 movies to buy to fulfill our membership commitment. The plan was to buy all 4 of our movies at one time to save on shipping - you pay $3.99 for the first movie & $1.49 (I think) for each additional in shipping. BUT it seems they always have a "deal" going where if you buy 1 movie at full price (which will count towards your fulfillment) you get each additional movie in the same order at a discount (so they won't count towards your fulfillment). Very sneaky. So I'm waiting to see if we ever get a mailing without that "deal" attached!

I've never had the problem of having a movie sent to me without my ordering it. PP, next time that happens, don't open the box - just write "Refused - Return to Sender" on the outside and drop it back in the mailbox. I used to do this all the time w/ the old CD clubs because I'd always forget to return the stupid card to refuse the "selection of the month."

I think it's worth it if you might be looking for older harder to find titles. I joined years ago, fulfilled my requirements and I'm still a member because I like to buy obscure titles. Things like Tron or Apple Dumpling Gang are pretty easy to find if you're a member, but not so much if you're not. :)

I say yes it is worth it. been a member for 9 yrs at least. No, you can't use coupons for it. You do get very good deals once you complete your required movie purchases. Also they have special pins only for members so if you like pins, this is a must. $3.99 each and one free with each movie order usually.

You should also be getting the snail-mailings...I know I get both!

As for your one last movie. Get something you cannot find anywhere.

I felt the club was worth it, but when it came to ordering that last movie I just kept getting peeved that I could pay less at Costco and go home iwth movie in hand, vs paying more plus shipping and waiting. Of course, I wasn't buying the Costco movies, either!

Finally I looked on their site for something unique, something I couldn't find elsewhere. And found it. They had the original Lilo and Stitch movie in a "collectible" tin. That was NOwhere else, and it was at a good price. So I bought it, and it made me very happy! Got Disney Movie Rewards on it, too.

Right now I think the Lilo/Stitch one is gone, but they have Chicken Little in a tin just like I got with Lilo. Little note...you will NOT get the free box with that, b/c the box doesn't fit the tin. If you read the info on the box, first it says with "any" movie, but then further on it says, pretty much, any *normal* movie.

That's how we finally finished our committment.

And then we became VIPs and that gets you some REALLY good deals!

You can click it off. I don't have the wording anymore since I'm VIP and have no more committment, but I remember looking in the section that explains the deals, and you can check or uncheck a box to get rid of the special. I have never gotten a mailing or emailing without a special, but I definitely remember seeing the note that you can order without the deal.

OP! If you have a list of movies you want, and the available money to buy them either all at once or as fast as possible in as few shipments as possible, I think it's the best deal.

It also works mentally, b/c the faster you order, the easier it is to keep in mind all the movies you got for almost nothing, up front. When you average it all out, I think the club works financially. But emotionally it gets SO HARD when you have been in it for 2 years and have that one last movie...it's impossible to remember all the savings you had when you joined the club.

So get a nice fat list of movies all ready, wait to join until you have the ready cash to order them fast. Don't take advantage of the deals until you've finished up your commitment. If you belong to a rewards program, join through them so you have a chance (if it tracks correctly) of getting credits with that rewards program (I joined through sunshine rewards and got 12 credits, for example). Have fun!

NOooooooooo....I fulfilled my requirements MONTHS ago & I cancelled my membership right after that. They are STILL sending me movies. I've talked to about 10 different people, sent certified letters & they still can't get it right.

I bought Tinkerbell blu-ray combo from Toys R'us for $7.50 a piece ($35 value) & UP blu-ray from Toys R'Us for around $10. I plan on buying all future movies like this, using multiple coupons. I would NEVER recommend anyone joining DMC.

Plus, it messed up my Disney log-in abilities, because I'm a member of Disney Movie Rewards & I get e-mails from Disney World. DMC says it's b/c I used the same e-mail address. :confused3

weHEARTmickey, your whole experience is so strange compared to my good experience!

I was thinking the same thing. I've never had any issues with the DMC, even returns are credited super fast....

In that case, give it a try! I thought everyone must have had my sort of experience.

If you do try it, definitely keep ALL your receipts/bills filed somewhere. If I hadn't been able to prove that I'd fulfilled my commitment, they would've made us buy one more full-price movie. Good luck
