I got the phone for my daughter but I couldn't get it for the rest of the family because we are still in a contract. This is her first phone. She needs it in case she has to call me if she has trouble getting in the house after school, etc. So far it works quite well everywhere. As a matter of fact we were in a "dead zone" for my phone but hers worked. And since she takes it to school with her I am able to block out the hours she shouldn't use it. She can't make calls and no one can call her. I can do the blocking , GPS, etc. from the computer on the website and she can't because they give the person on the contract a password to do it, so it will be the parent. If it works out I will probably switch all of us to Disney Mobile when my other contract is up.
