Has anyone used the Disney Mobile program on a recent trip? If so what types of messages, offers, features does it text to you durring your trip? Just curious:)

Thanks for the link! I was actually wondering what kind of "special offers" durring the trip were sent. I use the the wdw waits ap on my ipone... just curious if the text option had anything different as it says it does in the welcome text. Not seeing anything other than what I can get on the wdw waits app and much easier using the app than texting.

I haven't used the service, but your message REALLY got me curious (I just got an iPhone!). So I Googled around. Have you seen this:

If this is what you're talking about, I'll probably stick with Lines for my next trip.

Unless someone sets me straight, that is popcorn::

We used an app from undercover tourist for the droid. It was free and was pretty much correct with the wait times. It also has other bells and whistles like park hours, firework times and parade times. Overall very good app and it is free.

I downloaded the Undercover Tourist free app for wait times etc. It's on my iPod Touch. I just realized it probably won't work in WDW because there is no free wireless and this is how I access sites on my iPod Touch. Hmmmmm.......anyone know ? Thanks.

I used the Disney Parks Mobile Program for our December trip. I found it to be relatively worthless. The mobile program (m.disneyworld.go.com) has some useful information, but there are probably better apps out there. I would receive a text every morning asking which park I was going to. After responding, I would get the park hours and the phone number for making dining reservations texted to me. You can use it to check wait times and where to find character meet/greets. The wait times that were sent back were generalities (Moderate, See Now, High Demand). They only allow 6 texts per day, so using texting is relatively worthless if you want to check wait times for several attractions all day.

Your right . . . no free wireless. They really need to change that.

As I understand it, Mobile Magic is only available to Verizon customers and is not available at all on the iPhone.

It's sad when Disney excludes loyal customers based on your mobile phone service provider.

Don't feel bad, you aren't the only one excluded. I have Verizon, but the app is not available for the Blackberry.

Very frustrating!!!

So I have a double whammy against me....I'm BOTH AT&T and Blackberry.....oh well.........

I highly recommend WDW Lines from www.touringplans.com. It shows accurate wait times, showtimes, park crowd forecasts, and strategy guides to get to all the rides and events you want to get to in the day. The demo has basic info to start, but it I think it costs $11/yr.

As mentioned,
with any dataplan, you can still get the basic info on m.disneyworld.go.com, at least it was somewhat helpful on my Sprint BB in Oct. I got a little more partial free info from touringplans, too..

Mobile Magic is the product designed specifically for Verizon. I guess I was thinking you were talking about product at:

http://disneyparksmobile.com/mobilewebsite/

I got roped into ATT for the iPhone, but I miss Verizon. I would love to go back to Verizon, but since my iPhone won't work with their technology, I am destined to stay with ATT a little longer. I guess my DW will get an iPhone from ATT this summer.

Maybe WDW will eventually allow Mobile Magic to work with other phones, much like Apple has branched into other cellular providers. I don't know anything about the functionality of Mobile Magic, but if it's like other Disney internet/web-based product, it probably could use some tweaking:crazy2:

I checked this out...I don't know, maybe because it's designed for Verizon and I have AT&T but it doesn't seem that detailed ? I specifically am interested in current wait times. The iPhone/iPod app gave very detailed up-to-date wait times for all rides. Wish I could use it but not possible due to lack of wireless in WDW.
This m.disneyworld.go.com app just says "see now" or "high demand" next to the attraction for wait times ? It also lets you know if a FP is still available. Maybe for Verizon users it's more detailed ? I get a 24% discount with AT&T through my employer so that is why I go with that provider.

The WDW lines at touringplans.com provides pretty accurate wait times for wait times, and FP times currently being distributed. It also projects according to historic info when the fast passes will be gone. I have used it several times in the last year or two, and has never failed me on my Droid X w/ Verizon.

It is available for $11/yr for iPhone, Blackberry, and Android.

Thanks. Is this only for Verizon customers ?

No, it is for any device that is compatible. I think they even have a browser app for computers.

I can't say enough good things about the app. The updates come from historic and forecast data from company they use, as well as, from users that post times from what they see or experience in the park.

thanks so much....just paid the subscription....looks good so far but I think I like the iPod one a tad better. But at least I have something that looks fairly usable.

I used Mobile Magic my last two trips and it was nice. When you are in the park, the wait times are identical to what Disney has posted for each ride and it shows fast pass availability. I had an older phone so it worked great for me.

However, I just got the Verizon IPhone so I can't use Disney's app any more( although I read somewhere that they are working on updating it for the iphone.) I've downloaded both the WDW Lines app and the undercover Tourist app so it will be interesting to see them in operation during our next trip
