OK I figured since I couldn't find another thread discussing the use of Disneys awesome app I would make one.

I would like to get one misconception out of the way: IT ABSOLUTELY SHOWS YOU EXCACT WAIT TIMES It does require that you are in the actual parks though. It will also show fastpass return times, character greeting locations and times. But all this requires you to have gps and location based services turned on. Disney limits the times to their see now, moderate and high demand otherwise.
Now, having the app run with gps on makes it a battery hog. My plan for this is to exit out of the app every time and turn my phone to airplane mode when it's in my pocket.

One very useful feature is the ability to make dining reservations right from the app. I know the hardcore planners on here might not find this very useful. But if you are at all like me being able to make changes on the fly is a great advantage. And it works much better than the mobile site.

This is just a start for now. I'm on my phone and since the dis hates on android with no app love, it will have to wait. Because using a full fledged forum on a phone is brutal.

I changed phones recently just so I could have the app for our trip we just returned from. It was wonderful! Yes, it is the posted wait times, but there is no way to get exact wait times every so I figured this is the very best you can get. And it was! It worked great when we wanted to ride Soarin'. It's such a pain to find out wait times by walking into building and downstairs. Now I just pulled out the phone. Also helped to tell me when a ride would close temporarily.

It does list all activities for the day like parades, fireworks, and show times. For show times I just saw that it listed the next show and not all times for the day.

I also used often to find restrooms. Comes in handy with 3 kids! Plus used to check the weather.

Will definitely use again for our next trip. Sooooo glad we had as our trip went so smooth.

OK you are correct. It is posted, I will edit later. I guess what I was trying to get across was they are a time posted to the minute not a worded estimate.
Also what kind of phone do you have?

I have the app on my phone, I'm going there in 2 weeks. I'll let everyone know how well it worked, and what didn't work about it- in comparison to mousewait.... I don't feel like paying for an unofficial app like touring, when I already know a significant amount of details about the park personally. For those who don't know where the nearest bathrooms are, or best place to eat, I'll let you know which app reigns supreme.

On the other hand, mousewait comes in handy when looking at specifics. Restaurants are listed by land, and restaurant. It also has more indepth menus and prices (usually updated monthly)

What would really be nice on these apps are bathroom reviews. Who hates walking into a bad nasty smelly bathroom? Example is the space mountain bathroom in Tomorrowland is probably one of the grossest restrooms, in comparison to Frontierland restrooms that see less traffic.
Restaurant reviews would be helpful too, with recommendations from users on what to order. But I guess when you gotta go you gotta go.

It's always nice to get someone else's input on experience, mainly a system like yelp.

Both apps seem to work well, as I've used mousewait in the past- and based upon other reviews of the DP official app- the wait times are connected to disney's systems, making for the best possible wait time experience. Maybe combining forces would be a good investment when a user is in the park to get the best possible experience. I think these apps could learn quite a bit from each other.

Things I would like to see in an app would be:

Wait Times and show times (that's a given)
A review system similar to yelp, which allows users to rate restaurants, entertainment and to post their own experiences within the park
Up to date menus and prices (as the DP app only shows an estimated Price per person... unless it changes when you're in the park)


As far fetched as my "dream" app would be, it's always nice to hear what other people would like to see in an app... especially if you have to pay for one?

I have a Droid and downloaded it. Love it. Unfortunately I'm getting rid of this phone and getting an iPhone, which it isn't offered on. So now I'm waiting/hoping they port it over :/

You have to have tourinplans.com to get the app.

But I have touringplans.com (obviously) and I always did, since they started offering it. It's cheap, easy to navigate and has stuff I actually use. Getting "Lines" with the deal was like being given a winning $5 scratch-off lotto ticket when I stopped in for Diet Pepsi.

They touring app has a free version. It may not go into as a great a depth as the paid one does but it is great on telling you what parks to go to what days. MouseWait sucks. At least when I was there...each day it showed all the fast passes gone for each ride. Don't know if someone just didnt want anyone to visit the parks but it was a waste of space on the phone. The parks app was great for knowing wait times and directions. It does come on as soon as you are on Disney property and you have no way of checking another park until you are in that park so I used that app while in the parks but used touring to figure out what park to go to.

I just browsed and was unable to find that option anymore. Hmm..

Got the iPhone back in March, had the app on my other phone before upgrading, our next trip is in 47 days and I'm hoping it becomes available for the iPhone by then. We go again Mid-Late December and could really use it for that trip, I have dozens of other apps and will be fine without it but I really liked it since it's supported by Disney, the others are not but are put together by some really good fan sites.

Not sure. I'll let you know if someone doesn't beat me to it. I'll be there in a few weeks. What is the site address for the mobile magic? I didn't know there was a website that accompanies the app....

After all if you didn't have an app and walked up to an attraction you would base the wait time on that same posted time on the entrance sign. I have four different apps (Lines, Ride Hopper, Undercover Tourist, and Mobile Magic). I found that the Mobile Magic gave me the most accurate times as well as fast pass availability and the return time for those fast passes. The other three apps rely on user input which could be hours old and therefore inaccurate or are estimated times.
The Mobile Magic app times given when you are in the park are the posted standby times that are at the entrance to an attraction. They change when Disney updates their wait time at the attraction. Fast Pass return times also change as the fast pass machine changes the return time.

Are there any rumblings about this app becoming available for the iPhone? We leave 3 weeks from today (YEAH!!!), so if so, it probably wouldn't be available by then anyway.

DH has a Droid, so I can have him download the app. The GPS does KILL his battery, though!

I have seen those rumors a few times lately, but then again there were rumors floating around for months that MM was going to be open to more phones on verizon and that took a year or so to become true. Keep checking back for Iphone versions up till you leave for your trip.

I think the Disney Parks blog said it was coming this fall. Dh and I both have iphones, so we are hoping it comes out before our trip in November!

Really really liked the app. Shows wait times while in the park, but only worded "high demand" outside of the park. But love the option of putting in your hotel, ability to see what dining reservations are available (and to actually make the reservation), and the ability to use it at both WDW and DL (which we visit once per year).

A little hitch I noticed - If you are not in a good reception area, the app can sometimes think you are in a different park than the one you are actually in.
