Does anyone have this? How are they? Would you recommend it for a 6 yr old?

TIA

6yearold yes. Keep an EYE on target as they come and go on clearence.

You will have to set it up if not buying the preloaded chips for it.

DD13 has had her Tink one for a while now and never had a problem wit it. She went to the MixMax at X-mas and then peerpressure set in and she needed an IPod Vid so thats what she has (paid for half rest was easter gift)

DD8 has one- it is really easy to use and seems to be holding up well so far. I had no problem putting music onto it, and it held more than I thought it would. We got a mini SD chip that added lots more memory, too.

Can you put music from your cds onto it? I tried putting some Disney music cds on an mp3 that I had and I couldn't get it to transfer. Anybody know?

just bought one for my 8 yo DS to see how he took care of it. It was a little frustrating for me to add music to it, but only cause I was trying to do it from iTunes and I didn't "get" that I had to convert the music we had into
mp3 format. once I got that it was a piece of cake.
I think it is a great precursor to a more expensive player, like iPod.
The only thing I DON'T like about it (compared to iPods) is that there is no way of setting a volume control. I hate when he listens to music too loud!

My daughter bought the tink one right after our son got a ipod for Christmas. After downloading from itunes we hated the mp3. Way to much trouble, but I am not that computer smart. So we bought her an ipod for her b-day. Just my opinion we like the ipods better!

My DD7 is on her second Disney Mix Max. She absolutely loves hers. The first one was a pink one (The Princesses). She accidently stepped on it in the car and cracked the screen. It still works but she can really see the screen. I went on Ebay and got a New in the box ,buy it now for $25 + 6/shipping. The second one is orange (High School Musical). She has the one that plays movies (using the SD Cards) or you can buy a SD Card and upgrade it to a 2G. If you buy the movie clips, the video playback isn't bad at all. I was pleased when we visited family in Michigan. Her new movie clip kept her entertained. IIt's really neat to use and well worth it, especially if you get it under $50. I use Windows Media Player 11 to transfer music. All I had to do was 'drag' the songs I wanted player. I downloaded the program Surge (which comes with the WMP11) and took them up on their 14 day FREE trial. I downloaded so many Disney Artist and Kidz Bop CD's I almost filled up her memory. Here is a picture of a few Disney Mix Max. I didn't get the sticks. I like the Mix Max so much better. She wanted a Ipod, but is EXTREMELY satisfied with this one.

I did buy her a case this time (for storage) and I purchased her some clip on the ear - earphones. She didn't like the ones that sit in her ear. Here is one on Amazon.com for $39.99 http://www.amazon.com/Disney-Player-High-School-Musical/dp/B000K0Q16M/ref=pd_bbs_sr_8/102-1768168-9224913?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1180053963&sr=8-8

This is the second one she received.
