I admit ... I seldom purchase WDW tickets. I'm a CM, I have comps for family, etc. So when someone asked me a ticket question, I read the sticky, looked at the various permutations, and promptly realized that math is hard, and I am NOT a ticket person!

So ... I come to you who are. This will probably be a really easy one for you guys, but I kept coming up with different numbers. So ... please ... help?

Here's the sitch:

• Family of four -- two adults, two kids (one is 4, one turns 3 the day they arrive)
• Five days in the parks; park-hopper preferred but not absolutely necessary
• They are starting with CM discounted two-day base tickets which have been purchased through me by a friend of theirs ... total = $695.88
• When they arrive on day one, they want to upgrade to five-day tickets, possibly with PH

Question is ... how much will that cost? And what is the best way to do that (I'm assuming after they've used them the first day)?

Not to be too much of a smarta$$, but it will cost as much as the ticket window person says it will cost. Regardless of what any of us say, the customer service person "on day 1" has the real number. If you've already done some math, you have a ballpark figure: go with that.

Best way to do it, I have no idea.

Shouldn't they have bought 5 day hoppers thru you, or is a 2 day base all you can do?

My confusion is whether or not they would still get the discount when upgrading? The normal cost of the 5 day park hopper for 2 adults and 2 kids is $1,252.44, according to the Disney website. That's including tax, which I'm not sure if it's different in the park vs. online. It would also make a difference if they were FL residents, if they are, it would be slightly cheaper.

I've never upgraded a ticket before like this, always just bought 7-day or AP, so I'm not exactly sure, but is it just paying the difference of what they already paid? If so, that works out to $556.56. It makes sense for the extra 3 days to be cheaper since the cost per day usually gets cheaper the more days you add, right?

I could be totally off, I just want some Disney swag, and you should probably wait for someone who knows more about the way upgrading works. My math skills are on point, I just don't know the system lol.

Using https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/tickets/ for two adults and two children, this is how I think it would work.

Assuming you can upgrade CM tickets:

With bridging -- the way I think it will work --:
Their tickets (two day base) right now would be worth $773.20 with tax.
What they want (5 day with parkhopper) costs $1508.04 with tax.
That would leave them with $734.84 to pay.

I didn't buy them the 2 day base. A friend did. That friend bought them through me so that they could get the discount. I guess a 2 day base was all the friend wanted to spring for.

CM discounted tickets can be upgraded. They would have to go to guest relations and pay the difference between the cost of the 2 day base tickets with CM discount ($695.88 per your post) and the current cost of 5 day park hopper tickets ($1508.04 per Disney website) for a total out of pocket cost of $812.16.

Sorry for my quote on the price, I don't think I added the hopper option. Hopefully all this info gets you some right answer lol.
