We are staying at Kidani Village and having a marvelous time! It is quite a walk to get to all the activities (not a gripe, just a comment.) From our room viewing the Sunset savannah (absolutely beautiful) to the lobby of the Jambo House is .94 miles. The question is--how many times do we need to make this walk to burn off the calories in a Mickey Bar????

I am seriously jonesing for my trip to get here which is the only reason I'm doing math outside of school hours!!:rotfl2:

If a Mickey Bar is 131 calories (I looked it up) and you walk at a leisurely pace of about 2mph and your weight is about 165 then you will need to walk 1.41miles (from your room to the Jambo lobby and halfway back). If you walk faster, and weight a bit more you might be able to burn enough calories for TWO Mickey Bars !!! Enjoy yourself!!

If you want to post your gender, age and weight and an estimate as to the mph you are walking - I'll try to calculate that for you!

That was not nice. I really didn't need to know how many calories are in a Mickey bar. :) I like to think the cals don't count if something is in the shape of a Mickey.

Didn't anyone tell you? At Disney, Mickey Bars are the exact calories of a .94 mile walk....or a .5 mile walk...or a .2 mile walk...oh, heck, how about just however many calories I burn just from the walk to the cart!!!!:rotfl2:

I LOVE my Disboard friends! I ended up having 2 Mickey bars (my husband ate the ear off one so I figured he got all the calories on that one!) and did the walk at least 10 times-so I'm good there. Now, if you figure in the dinner at Boma where I tried a bite of each dessert...

We have had a marvelous stay. This is our first trip to AKV and we LOVE it. We told the person at check-in we were not going to the parks so we were "all about the room." She asked if we could wait and I told her we were patient and would wait as long as needed to get a great room. We checked in at 2:30 and didn't get placed until after 4-but it was worth the wait! We are in 7648 (second floor)--right at the apex of a wing overlooking the Sunset savannah. We have spent at least 4 hours sitting on our deck and run to check every 30 minutes or so just to see what has wandered by. The giraffes congregate at a tree right in front of our window and it is glorious. We went to sleep with the Ankole cattle and there they were when we awoke this morning. I have to admit, we spent some time on the boards yesterday looking at points for AKV. Addonitis is a treacherous disease

It just occured to me, maybe Mickey Bars cause Addonitis :scared1:

Curse you Perry the Platypus!

I've neither had a Mickey bar nor added on points.

I have had addonitis though. I just haven't acted on it.

We stayed on the far end of Kidani and found ourselves driving to the parks and to Jambo house. I don't know how long that walk was...but it wasn't one that I enjoyed taking.

We enjoyed the walk but then, we weren't there to do anything except enjoy the resort and take our time. We aren't really "gym people" so the walking makes up for our otherwise lack of activity. If I were there pushing a stroller or keeping track of lots of young ones, I think I'd try to get closer to the lobby-either Kidani or Jambo. But for sitting and watching the animals, I think the CM did us a great service-we loved our room. We walked around on the upper floors and through the other wing--it looks like great views can be had from lots of spaces.
