I just saw on the news that Walt Disney Co. is donating 2.5 million to the relief effort. Hopefully many other large companys will follow their lead.

I am happy to see that Disney stepped out to the plate.... I agree I hope other large money making companies do as well..

I've been bugging the girls in my HR department since yesterday afternoon to get something started. I just finally got an email back saying "Wow, that's a great idea. We didn't think of doing anything at all! What do you suggest?" This is a large company with nearly 1,000 employees! I suggested the company set up a matching programs to encourage employees to make donations. I hope they do it!! I've already made a couple of donations, but I'll donate again if they'll match.

I have to do a small brag...My DD's third grade Brownie troop decided instead of going on a field trip, they wanted to donate their troop funds to the Red Cross. It might not be much, about $300.00, but this is all of the profits from last years cookie sales!!! We are super proud of these girls! It might not be Disney's 2.5 million, but I think it's worth more! :goodvibes

I was expecting at least 1 million from them. They donated that last year for FL hurricane victims.

That is beautiful! How wonderful of those girls. It brought tears to my eyes! Just goes to show, you are never too young to learn compassion.

That matches Disney's and Wal Mart's donations in my book. Two thumbs up for your daughter and her GS troop!!!

:cheer2: goooooooooooooooo brownies !!! :cheer2:

congrats, you have an awesome group of girls there !!!

Everyone should encourage their companies to setup a donation program. My husband just told me his company, Freddie Mac, has announced a Red Cross Donation matching program - up to one million dollars. :flower: If every company could do this (with a reasonable ceiling for the company size and revenue) our donations could do so much more!!

Rock on Disney!

Lowe's is doing matching as well.

Our Publix was taking donations (don't know if they are matching or not). They will add any dollar amount to your receipt.

Way to go for your little brownie lewdyan1

My hubby's company always company matches with predetermined 501 3 c's....I beleive Red Cross would totally qualify---all matches are up to $1000.

Way to go, Brownies!!!

I knew about the Wal-mart and Lowe's donation but not the Disney one. Makes me feel even better about spending my money there.
