I was going to make a reservation at the Disney Sports resort and was wondering if upgrading to the silver or gold maker package is really worth it. I am going to be going by myself if that makes any difference in your response.

Thanks,

Jason

I'm staying at the All Star Movies with a gold plan for three nights in August. I'm taking a few nights on to a trip by myself after spending six nights with my sister and her family because I want to go on a couple of tours while I'm there. I have never done a package before, but I decided I would spoil myself this trip (I'm worth it, right?:)

I orginally booked a silver package that would include six magical wishes. I would use two for the tours and the rest for some great meals. I figured that as long as I spent an average of $27 per meal, I would come out even on the plan.

Then, I read up about the gold plan and thought about how I have always wanted to go golfing down at Disney World. The gold plan includes the tours, the recreation, and three meals per night (four a total of nine meals).

So before booking the package, I sat down and wrote what I'm likely to do while I'm there. I even went so far as to check out the menus, and guess where I was likely to eat, and estimate how much I would spend per meal. With the golf, the tours, and meals, I figured I would be spending about $200 over the cost of the gold plan.

My best advice to you would be to figure out what you'd like to do, and try to figure out how much you would spend. If you are planning on doing tours and recreation, I think it's a good value. If it's just for meals, if might not be as worth it.

Hope this helps.

The gold dream maker package has 3 meals a day plus recreation, so it really depends on what you want to do. The meals have to be in a restaurant, so you'll be spending a lot of time eating.

I generally find packages don't add up for us, because you pay for park admission, etc., for every minute of your stay. We wouldn't always go to a park, and would only spend limited time at the water parks. The kid is still too young for Disney quest. So we would do park hoppers & skip the packages. Again, it depends on what you want to do! Just don't forget to look for discounts here or on mousesavers. :)

I think the silver add on is nice. It gives you a lot of flexibility. When I go solo I like to do a tour, and have a few sit down meals. It would be fun to have those items prepaid!

The gold would be too much for just me. When you're by yourself you can go anywhere & do anything, and I'd hate to be tied to 3 sit down meals a day! Plus I'd feel pressured to be very active. I'd feel guilty if I planned a pool day!

Thanks for replying to me message. I think that I will go with the silver maker package since it will give me more flexablitly. Plus during the time I go, the prices are all ready pretty steap and adding the gold package would cost an extra 1100 dollars and the silver would cost around $550 xtra.

Thanks,

Jason

Actually you don't have to eat at sit down restaurants, you may eat at most counter service places on the gold plan. However, to get your money's worth most people eat at sit down restaurants.
