Hi,, I just found out that I will NOT be receiving my luggage tags for the magical express in time. When I called and asked if they could be EXPRESSED to me, they said NO, only if my reservation was made between 10 and 21 days ago.. (it was and I explained this).. My modified reservation was made on July 6, 2005 and will be arriving on July 19. I had previously asked about the luggage tags (cro disney) when I made plans on July 6, 2005 and they said, "Don't worry" will receive them.. I called again on July 10, 2005 and they said will be mailed out next day...Now,,, no luggage tags!! Now, they said,, "Hey, this is a 'FREE' offer..you can get your own transportation".. hmmmm Final suggestion was to tie a YELLOW RIBBON ON MY STANDARD BLACK LUGGAGE (all 5 of them)...
Has anyone else experienced this???? thanks... :hourglass

Haven't had your experience yet. I'm one week out and bugging my TA because my tags haven't come in yet. She says not to worry, they'll be there but I'm worrying. I booked in January you would have thought they'd be with the rest of my documents. :confused3

So sorry. Esp. to OP. How rude. (BTW, is it REALLY "free", we may not see the cost on an invoice, but somebody is paying for it..hmmm...wonder who that would be?)
I was actually surprised when our luggage tags arrived yesterday with our travel documents. TA said I would get them in a couple of weeks, but I wasn't holding my breath due to some of what I've read here. (I must say the ones from AAA are really beautiful).
But, they gave us four tags as I expected for the four of us. I think we will check at least two more bags...what do I do about those? :confused3

Well I have 29 days until we fly to WDW. I called about 37 days out and was told I might not get them.... seeing it was "right around the corner". I was surprised but the person I talked to said if we didn't... just to claim our bags as we normally would and bring them with to check in at the ME desk and they would just put them under the bus. I think I will call in another week and see what they're saying then. I was surprised as I thought I read that you could call in as little as 10 days before your trip. I honestly thought 37 days out was enough time... learned a lesson~

Are you sure those are your magical express tags and not just the AAA luggage tags you get for booking with AAA. ME tags are so that ME knows to pick up your luggage and where to deliver it to. Those usually come seperate from your travel documents from what I understand

We didnt get our ME tags in June. We went to baggage claim got our bags and went to the ME check in desk. They checked us in and we went to the bus. The driver loaded our luggage under the bus. We thought it was better to claim our own bags than risk them not finding it and it risk waiting 24 hours for it to show up. If you go to the transportation board there is a ton of ME information there, including more people who didnt recieve tags. It sucks that they were so rude to you.

I was told that it was OK if you did not have the ME tags. You just need to take your claim tickets for your bags and bring them to the ME Welcome Center and a cast memeber will collect them or you could claim them yourselves.

I bet you are right. Glad I posted. They don't say anything about ME on them. AAA TA didn't tell me we'd get AAA tags but mentioned the ME, so I just assumed...(you know what they say about assume :rotfl: ) TA originally said we would get ME tags about 2 weeks before our trip. We leave on Aug. 13th, so I guess I'll see if I receive anything in a couple of weeks. Thanks for clearing that up for me. :)

This is what I received from WDTC:

"The enclosed blue castle Happiest Celebration on Earth bag tag is a personal indentification luggage tag. If you are flying to Orlando and taking advantage of Disney's Magical Express (DME) Service, your DME booklet that includes your DME bright yellow luggage tags will be mailed separately within 21 days of your arrival date. Please be sure to attach these yellow DME luggage tags to your baggage before you depart for Orlando."

We received our ME tags today and are due to travel to Orlando on July 27. When I called to add our flight info to our ressie, the woman said that we would receive the tags 21 days beofre our arrival date, so when we hadn't gotten them I went to the web site and registered us again. So maybe we'll be getting two sets!

>>> yellow ribbons

(copied from another post)
Let's start a fad! Regardless of where you are flying to, make up 3x5 cards each with the same 3 digit number of your choice in large print. Tape two firmly to each of your bags and suitcases. Now if you need to tell someone for example a Magical Express cast member about your baggage you can say "look for this 3 digit number plastered on it".

This is not foolproof -- someone else could have the same number you have, or a card may fall off -- but this will greatly speed up finding baggage.

I also have magical express which will provide transportaion to and from airport but will not provide luggage handling because I am flying Southwest. You may want to check to be sure you are flying a carrier for which Disney will handle your luggage and transportaion. Perhaps that is the glich.

Well my suggestion would be to tie something on your STANDARD BLACK LUGGAGE no matter what you do.... Black luggage is easy to confuse. I have a birthday ribbon on mine... stops business men from assuming that my rollerboard is thiers!

Disney will transport ALL luggage to Disney. Only selected carriers can have thier luggage transported back seperatly. All others must take it to the bus with them.

My suggestion - get some hot pink luggage tags from Wilsons Leather (or some weird coloured ones which my sister bought at Gap this week)

Nobody ever mistakes my luggage for theirs - I watch every week at the luggage carousel!

(I did have some rubber Epcot ones which I bought at the 'under $10 Store' at DTD, and they didn't even survive one trip - the leather ones have been flying weekly for over a year and still look great)
