Please let me know if I have this correct...... If I use Disney Magical Express, I am taken from the airport directly to the Polynesian with no other stops.
I am going to Disney World for a week. I would really like to stop at the Supermarket and get water, milk, snacks, etc, before going to the hotel.
If I am right, I would think then, that I would/ should pay for a private shuttle service that would make a stop at the market? Can I use Disney Magical Express to RETURN to the airport to go home? (A one way trip?)
Thanks everyone... for your help.

Disney ME picks up whatever passengers it has waiting for it at the airport and transports you to whatever hotel you are set to stay at(disney owned hotels). No, it will not stop at a supermarket, or anywhere along the way except the resorts to let off the guests. You can use gardengrocer and have them ship your purchase to your resort if you rather just do that. Many here on the dis I have read do that. If I recall right there maybe some threads in the resort section about it, or you can use the search feature and do a search for it, but I have heard using gardengrocer makes things very easy.

It will probably stop at other hotels in the monorail area.

You can also ship a box of stuff to the Poly, and just buy milk and other fridge items at the Poly.

I agree with bdklein! We were just down in Nov. We called the hotel to get the exact address and shipped a few boxes down. We put snacks and cereal in the boxes, we didn't have a meal plan. You can go right down the resturants and buy milk and drinks. We debated about getting groceries delivered. We also bought about 4 of the little cans of pringles chips. The empty containers are great to carry crackers & cookies for around the parks if you have young kids! But this worked for our family of 8!! :thumbsup2

It seems that now Garden Grocer's delivery charge is only $10.......:thumbsup2 Edited to add..........it seems that they have quoted two different delivery prices on their site for the same thing. One is $10 and the other is $12. I'm emailing to see which is correct!

THANK YOU.
Now I have some great ideas to mull over before my July trip !
I guess I'll have to buy the milk at the hotel. Is it reasonable at the resort hotels? We're staying at Poly.

we used gardengrocer in sept and we paid $10 and our order was $25 and if you have to make another order while you are there that week there is no charge for delivery. we had our order waitng for us when we arrived and we picked it up at the bell sevice in the resort

FYI you can use ME to go just one way i.e. for return trip only. we have done it before and are doing it again this year. we rent a car for first stop at US then tranfer down to a 1-bdr at WDW get our groceries and turn the car in at the on-site car center and then go ME back to MCO. works like a charm:thumbsup2

I'd say as resonable as anywhere in that part of Florida! But it's nice because they have small containers and bigger containers of Milk you can buy. It all depends if you have a fridge. And the lids screw on, so they don't spill!!

Yes on the oneway trip.

Don't skip the Magical Express on the way to the hotel!! It was so much fun to get on the huge Disney Tour bus and the kids loved watching the movie on the way. It just built up the excitement of finally being in Orlando and at WDW!!

We ship a box directly to our hotel. I will ship in Monday via UPS and it is guaranteed to be there by Thursday. We arrive Saturday morning. It works for us every time. I even ship Parmalat milk - which is whole milk in containers like juice boxes. They do not need refrigeration until they are opened. It tastes great on cereal. Our box is 18x18 square and about 30 pounds. It costs less than $18 to ship it. I buy my stuff on sale in the weeks before our trip and pack up exactly what we need!

A lot of people use that grocery store to send stuff over too.

Have a super time planning your vacation!!

I don't think this really explains it well. Specific buses are assigned to specific groupings of resorts at any given time. No more than 4 resorts per bus, and 4 is reportedly pretty rare, with 3 being pretty common. It's not like they just pick up whoever is hanging out and make 10 stops along the way. It's apparently been a very efficient system, and very popular, as well.

Using DME and getting a grocery delivery saves both money and time. It saves money in that you don't need to pay for a car service in order to get groceries for your room. A car service one-way with tip will run you in the neighborhood of $60. By contrast, Garden Grocer charges either a $10 or $12 delivery fee and Gooding's charges a $20 delivery fee. It saves time because you don't have to take the time to wait at baggage claim OR to stop at a grocery store you've never been to before.

If you use Garden Grocer or Gooding's (www.goodings.com) you don't need to be in your room when the delivery comes. Garden Grocer (can, upon request) and Gooding's (as standard procedure) deliver to your resort's Bell Services -- Bell Services will store your grocery delivery and even keep your cold stuff cold until you're available to take the delivery.

If you do choose to spend more money and time on a car service and grocery stop, you absolutely CAN use DME on the way back to the airport. Just make sure DME knows you'll be doing it only one-way, and make sure you don't put the yellow DME luggage tags on your bags.

Garden Grocer replied to my question regarding the different delivery charges, and they said that $10 is the correct fee............the $12 was a typo! :thumbsup2

Talk about learn something new everyday....I never knew that you could ship a box of groceries to your resort! What a great idea. I will try that next trip. Thanks again for great tips!!! :yay:

Depending on the amount of luggage your family already has, you could save yourself the shipping cost by filling an extra suitcase with cereal, snacks, etc and then using that space for souvenirs, etc on the way back.

We used ME for our trip in December. We also ordered groceries through wegoshop, and the service was great!
