Sounds like an awesome trip in July...and so nice for the one year anniversary
I cann't wait to hear more about that trip!

Hey Trina, thought I'd check out your ptr! Lucky you getting to go twice in a year! And I must say I'm very jealous of the Discovery Cove thing. One of these trips I'll get there!
Twice in one year...you are a lucky girl!

I'm just going to plan as much as I feel like and then play it by ear. I think once were down there they'll thank me
You know one of the problems is they've been to Disney before but its never been planned so they think its no big deal to have no plan. But they don't realize that we have very little time to do everything and lots of people to please.
Hi, Trina!
I feel your pain! I love to plan for the same reasons as you, but my hubby is used to the trips he took before he was Married, With Children and could just cruise around the (two) parks (then) and do whatever, whenever!![]()
I have fallen into the trap of "trying to please" everyone and, let me tell you, it is just trouble waiting to happen.
Do you remember the fable of The Man, the Boy, and the Donkey? Here is how it goes...
A man and his son were making a long journey. They were walking down the road, leading their donkey, when a woman saw them and scoffed, "How stupid! You have a donkey and you're both walking!"
The man was embarrassed and thought, "She is right," and he put his boy up on the donkey's back and proceded to lead him down the road.
A while later, they passed an old woman. "Shame on you, boy, letting your poor old father walk while you ride!" Again, the father was embarrassed and thought, "She is right." So he took his son off the donkey and got up on it's back himself.
They went along like this for some time until they passed a man, who berated the man for riding while letting his son walk. "You fool, there's room on that donkey for you both!" Once more, the man listened and he brought his son up onto the donkey so they both could ride. They continued on this way for another long time.
Now, the poor beast was getting pretty tired carrying that weight for so long. As they were crossing a rickety bridge, the donkey balked and kicked and tried to throw the man and the boy off of his back.
They all fell into the river and drowned.
(Must've been one of Aesop's fables...those always end with someone dying!)![]()
Anyway, the moral of the story is You Can't Please Everyone (and You Shouldn't Try) That only gets you into trouble because it is an impossible goal.
I agree with you that it is very frustrating to vacation with people who have different ideas on touring styles. My suggestion is that you do some planning, but prepare yourself for the eventuality that some or all of your party may not wish to go along with your ideas. You cannot make yourself responsible for them having a good time; that is up to them!
Trust me, I wrestle with this on every trip!![]()
Perhaps you can schedule some solo time, or split the group for a few activities/shows/meals so that you get to see and do your park "must-do's. Kind of like, divide and conquer!
*Remember, no one can see and do everything they want at WDW in one visit....there's just too much!
Try to relax and keep in mind you'll be going back later in the year with DBF and you will have an entirely different experience. I hope that both will be magical!
Hang in there!
