It's Amish Friendship Bread. We have an Amish community not too far from here. Although, I got the batter from my coworkers daughter! I guess that is what you do to get rid of the extras .. . .give it to the kids friends parents!!

Over the years, I've been given sour dough starter, frinedship bread/cake and other "batter" starters. Can't say I've kept up on them for very long as you have to keep rotating the batches.

OH!!! I wish you could send me a starter!! I haven't had that in FOREVER! There just seems to be something wrong with bread mix fermenting on the counter for, what? 2 weeks?? LOL But it's SO yummy!!! I wonder if you can start a starter?? and I think, if you were adventerous, you could use the leftover starters to just make more bread and freeze it for later!

Well . . .maybe? It's nothing more than flour, sugar & milk. It had to start somewhere/somehow

They'll probably get here around lunch time!! I think they are going to leave around 6AM, and right now they are an hour ahead of us!! Arizona doesn't have daylight savings time, so half the year they are the same time as us and the other half they are an hour ahead!!

There is a recipe for a started on Allrecipes.com. I just might do it! It also says you can freeze the starter in one cup measures for use later!
