I just heard that the Magic is locked down due to a bomb threat...anyone there today know more?

She should be in port shouldn't she? What a performance!!! Let's hope all is ok, fortunately most bomb threats are but end up being a pain. Better to be safe though.

My Sister is Freeking out...she's supposed to be on the ship...it's after 2 now and they are still outside the terminal waiting to be allowed on...they are currently shipping them to the Carvinal base because they have been sitting outside for over 3 hours...3 hours and no food...and is so thankfull she put snacks in her carry on bag because they are dying over there...apparently someone left a bag unattended is the rumor she told me and that the fire department...bomb squad...etc...are all there...there is no way they are going to leave on time because most of the people are not even checked in and have keys so who know's what's going on...I've told her it's an adventure and to be happy because she's in florida and i'm stuck at college...but she doesn't think so because she's bored out of her mind...lol...cast members told her the last time this happened was in September...and when these have happened before they have never taken this long...(they were originally told it would only take about 1 hour)...but yet again it's 3 and basically no one has boraded the ship....(she said groups with # 1 through 3 tickets...the number you get when you arrive....have gotten on...but that's it) ... I'll post again if I hear about anything else going on...hopefully things will be ok and they will let on soon...

Oh wow!! That would be a bit frustrating. I hope they got on soon!!

Oh, and someone else posted about this on here too....Not sure what info they had though.

Praying to God, this is an uneventful event..

Hugs to everyone waiting, staff as well.:grouphug:

Everyone is currently at Carvinal Cruise Terminal (3:40)...the people waiting have not been given anything but a waterbottle each...apparently the sheriff's office has cleared the building but they still have to wait for the national guard to clear the building before they go back...but when they finally clear the building they still have to bus back to disney terminal...register everyone...give them their keys...get them onto the ship...and then have the lifeboat drill...So it's interesting...

Any one off the east coast of Florida between Port Canaveral and Key West..watch out for the wake of the speeding ship tonight!

Just wondering how did you hear about the lock down? I keep getting asked if it is on the news or whatever...I haven't seen anything...maybe cause i'm in small town new york...just wondering? I think they think it would be exciting if they at least made the news for this...thanks

I think some people are texting family and they are posting the updates here.

isn't technology treat that you can get up-to-date info that everyone is ok through texting

My DS's friend who we've sailed with a couple times has been texting him because he's bored. It's not on the news here at least.

Nothing on the news as best I can tell. I found out simply because my sister is a performer on board. I only get to talk to her on the phone on Saturdays, every other Sunday (Key West) and every other Wednesday (St. Thomas)...so today is our normal day to catch up...so of course she is telling me the news as she shops some more at Wal-mart.

Also...as much as I want to know what is going on, it NOT being on the news means that it stays a non-issue. So, I am fine with it not being there! It IS my baby sister after all!

Thanks! I find it intersting how everyone else found out about this...I know there are a ton of people in this situation because it is spring break and that must mean the ship will be packed...so a lot of people are finding out through phones and texting....

As in the past, IF ANYTHING APPEARS UNUSUAL, the terminal is closed down.
It seems like at least once or twice a month a scare happens, but all precautions does have to be taken for the next time just might be real.
Its really a shame cause sometimes it is done intentionally, but most of the time, it was just an accident.
When we left the port this morning there was a lot of confusion and due to all the surfing contest here in Cape Canaveral and Cocoa Beach there is a lot more traffic, lot more going on and a lot of upset folks.
Hope it will soon be over - am going to try and find something out and if I do, will let you all know

Latest I have is that the cast is back on board. Evidently there was something seriously suspicious in this case, but not much information is coming out still. They are hoping to sail out between 7 and 8 tonight. Also, there are many people currently stranded at the airport too...they stopped all busses coming to the port and just gave them the OK to start bringing people over...so thats a minimum of 45 minutes until many people even get to the ship. Also some talk of getting to Key West very late.

wow, that is so scary! But better safe than sorry...I hope everyone will be able to board soon and start their vacation!

That is good news. It must be a logistical nghtmare though now.

I cant imagine having to deal with this with my 7 year old in tow, I'm bad enough myself having to wait but with him? I'd definatly be buying a nice bottle of rum as soon as we departed.

They just starting processing people back to the terminal!!! YEA! They have a long line ahead of them to get back through security again and then registration lines etc....but they have started getting ready to go again!!!! Hopefully everything moves quickly!

Was just on the local news. A security dog identified a suspicious mail package that was addressed to a crew member. Turned out to be a WiFI computer device. The sheriff cleared the boat around 3pm to board .

(Slideshow) - 1 image(s) Dozens of passengers were evacuated from the Disney Magic Cruise Ship after a security dog alerted crewmembers to a suspicious package.

It happened around noon Saturday, when the dog sensed something in a package that was mailed to one of the crewmembers.

A search of the package found it contained a wireless device for a laptop computer.

The all clear was give at 3:30 p.m. The evacuation and the delay had many passengers upset.

Disney apologized to the passengers for the delay, but said it was better to be safe than sorry.
