Disney Magic - Just Boarded!!!

We are going in 3 weeks! Boy I hope things aren't as bad as I am envisioning. I too thought the carpets in the staterooms where getting replaced. I also thought I heard the bedding was getting updated?

Well I will wait for the pictures....bummer about the pools!

I hadn't heard anything about the carpets or the bedding. All I heard was 1) teak flooring at Quiet Cove area 2) RFID (or at least prepping for it) in kids clubs 3) new splash area at Mickey pool and 4) new TVs. Where did you hear about bedding and carpets?

Hey.. can the TVs still be pulled out and rotated? If it can, then that's definitely some extra storage space I'll be using.

Sounds like they have a lot more work to do.

Yeah...Having just been on the boat last month for 15 days, I can say that the Magic needed to be in dry dock for 2 months (let alone two weeks) to do the necessary upgrades....

The OP reported the rugs being squishy... Not the carpets perhaps..The floor really is squishy in places and needs new underlayment or reinforcement or something.

AS for the new deck furniture...I'm thinking they were talking about the newer furniture that was already placed in front of Cove Cafe perhaps. (really nice BTW and nice to read or sleep on.)

That pool looks bad , that is NOT a nice welcome aboard from DCL . I would not be happy about that never mind all the other stuff.

My husband just told me I was confused (which is not hard to do) with the bedding at Disney World. They are changing to queen beds in the moderates.

Whoa! The pool looks more like a pond, they need to place a warning sign for anyone brave enough to get in.:rotfl:

this goes to show that you should not be on a ship right before dry dock (things are super worn b/c they are about to change them & they start some of the refurbishments before dry dock, the carpet mentioned, for example) or right after b/c not everything is done. Same for a hotel stay but you rarely know when that is going to occur

Oooh... i might just have to consider a moderate one day ;-)

Truly! Yuck!!! It didn't look nearly that bad in April. Wonder what happened?

Looks like they still have work to do....

I did the WB repo and our room was just fine.... :goodvibes

We will be on the Magic on Saturday.. I hope the pools are cleaned by then!! :guilty:
See what happens when they RUSH it up a week.. :sad2:

Sorry for the way your cabin looks! We were on the 9/1 5nt in 5133 and had no problems other than the table had a couple of scratch marks. Everything else looked great. Oh yea, there was a button missing on the sofa cushion. That definately needed to be replaced/recovered. I agree that BeatStreet doesn't look much different then before drydock except for the counter removal in the shop. I would like to know what was up at the Goofy Pool. Maybe there will be some kind of explanation later. Yuk....

I can't believe the condition of that pool. Heck of a welcome for the guests.

Tsk Tsk.

Ok don't want to get flamed but it seems like some of this is nit picking. The pool is inexcuseable of course but a lot of the photos posted are of little dents and such in the furniture. Unless DCL is going to completely refurbish every stateroom (and I don't think that was ever planned in this dry dock) then those nicks and dents are going to be there. The ship has been sailing for too long for there not to be those kinds of little imperfections.

that's what I thought, so you won't get flamed by me, from the pictures, it seems like small things really, besides the pool, but I'm sure that will be better in no time:goodvibes

Did they swap out the chairs at Quiet Cove with the new chairs that they have on the Wonder?

I tend to agree with jd99. Most of the pics are expected wear and tear. The carpet should have been replaced (or at least glued down at the tear) and the wall should be painted. But the nicks and scratches are to be expected. It is a shame that the pool wasn't cleaned before boarding. That would have only taken a few hours to drain and scrub.
