Disney Magic - Just Boarded!!!

We are going in 3 weeks! Boy I hope things aren't as bad as I am envisioning. I too thought the carpets in the staterooms where getting replaced. I also thought I heard the bedding was getting updated?

Well I will wait for the pictures....bummer about the pools!

Thanks for the pictures. You just made my daughter feel better that we didn't take this cruise. Sounds like they have a lot more work to do.

Those pictures look sad. :sad1: I am surprised at the site of that pool...with people boarding today I would have thought those would be sparkling!

Hopefully the rest of the cruise goes AMAZING!

Yes - thanks for the pictures. I'm disappointed also :sad2: I thought that "more" would have been done. I'm also surprised that the pools are not in working order before the trip. I've read where so many "guests" like to swim before the safety drill.

I don't cruise until April so hopefully she'll be in SHIP SHAPE by then.

Anyone else "out there" have pictures that they want to share?

Oh my gosh! I am shocked! I can't believe that things are in such disrepair.

One of the main things we missed on our October 2007 Wonder trip as opposed to our October 2006 Magic trip was the extreme cleanness of the ship.

I am floored that the Goofy pool looks like that. One day on our 2006 cruise, they drained the pool, repainted it, and had it full of water and functional again by mid afternoon. I just don't understand it.

I'm anxiously awaiting more details / explanations as we sail in 10 days!

If you get a chance can you post a picture of the new splash zone for the kids?

Kevin,
I was about to post and ask you what room you are in but then I looked at your signature and see your in 5622...that is the stateroom we're booked in for our November 29th cruise on the Magic  . Hopefully they'll fix it for you and it'll stay in pretty good shape until our cruise if not i'll be doing some complaining also. I'm not paying that kinda of money to sleep on a sagging bed I can tell you that!! Thanks for the pictures. If you take any more stateroom pictures can you please post them. Did you take one of the TV? I may have missed it when I looked at your pictures earlier.

I'm so sorry that it has turned out this way for you and your family!! You're right...you pay a lot of money to cruise with Disney and it's very disappointing when things aren't up to par like they should be!!

Have fun at the sail away party. Have a few drinks and maybe your vision won't notice the defects! Just Kidding but have fun anyway and thanks for the pictures!

Thanks for the pictures. For the amount of time the ship was drydocked it sure seems like they didn't get a lot done. The Wonder went out for 2 weeks and came back with major modifications. Strange. Have an awesome trip

I really hope things are looking better on the Magic for the Nov 1st cruise I'm on. :sad1: If things are that bad, I would probably be complaining at Guest Services and asking for some kind of kick back on the cruise. Extra OBC, or something. Sorry you are having that experience. I hope things go better!

Kevin-

I am sorry that this is your first experience aboard the Magic.:sad1:

We tried to warn you! Remember this thread? http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1854449

Someone has some 'splainin to do! :confused3

Hello All,

Just off the Wonder and was speaking with some of the senior officers about the issues of the Magic not being done 100% when it returns to service. They assured me that when she returns to service, it will be 100% ready. The reason that the ship was not fully ready after the last dry dock was simply the number of major additions and alterations to guest areas. This dry dock does not have any major changes to guest areas other than standard refurbishment. Therefore, when she returns to service, all work should be completed before the first guest boards.

With those assurances, I went ahead and booked my first Magic cruise. I am SOO excited to see Twice Charmed!!!

Kevin

I hope that you make the best of this cruise, and that it ends up being a good one for you.

Thanks for the photos!

TCD

I was on the Sept 1 5 night cruise right before drydock...Kevin's pictures of Beat Street look exactly the same as when we were there, so I'm not sure that anything was done to that (except for the change in the shop there). They did replace the carpets, because they started that during our cruise (really bad smelling glue the entire cruise!).

We had connecting cabins on deck 6, and one cabin did have a sagging mattress. The other was as comfy as I remember.

I wish they could have figured out a way to make more storage available when they took out the bulky TV's...looks like they just stuck the flat screen in the same spot.

I just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to post on this subject as there are many who have been itching to know what they did during dry dock.
Your post took a little wind out of my sail as I was just bragging to my DH about how great she will look for our first Disney Cruise next week. Oh well.

Based on your siggy it looks as though you have alot of experience cruising with DCL, so at least you know it is not "the norm". Anyway, thanks again really for taking the time out of your vaca to enlighten us all on the changes. Here is hoping a little Pixie Dust is spread your way for the remainder of the trip! :wizard:
