Disney Magic: Dec 23, 2015 Key west

This will be our 6th DCL cruise but our first ever over XMas. It is just DH and I as we are child free! While we love Disney, we are not super Disney freaks or even big fans of the special things like Pirate Night, Sail Away, etc. we love the elegance and service DCL offers as well as the adults only areas and the beauty and serenity of Casatway. We will skip all dining at AP but we will frequent the spa more than once and Palo is a must do! Our high stress job (yes, we work together!) makes us look forward to some quiet time even watching the in room on demand movies is heaven!

This will be the second DCL cruise for DW and I but we are surprising DD12 and DD17 with it. We did a Royal Caribbean cruise last year before Christmas, home before Christmas though, and had many experiences that just weren't right, so we decided to ramp it up for the kids and do it right this time.

We're trying to decide when/how to reveal it to them since it will be hard to get them packed and to the port 2 days before Christmas without them knowing SOMETHING is up, but for now we're going to keep it quiet for them until we come up with a way to get the best surprise for them.

Cruise Meet threads are doing just fine still managing meet and FE discussions right here on the DIS as they have since FE began (also here on the DIS).

FE organizers generally need to know how many people (adults/children) are participating in each cabin with child ages for age appropriate gift giving. Other information you would like to share such as names, allergies, favorite characters, etc. is up to you. Other personal information is not really necessary. Those organizing FEs typically ask for the information to be posted in the meet thread or sent to them via PM.

post 10 times so you can send private messages. Then private message Inponce (listed above) with your name ages of kids and stateroom number. I also suggest searching and reading the threads on FEs, and FE gifts, so you understand what you're getting into.

Once you have 10 posts, you will be able to send a PM (now called "Conversation"). There will be a link at the upper right on every page to your "Inbox" and you can click on any username and a link to "Start a conversation" will be available. In addition, you will then be able to upload images and have links in your signature.

I am having issues with the "Conversation" thing. I did the 10 posts and it's still not letting me send you the Conversation. We just booked and paid for our cruise in full and want to join the FE fun!

My husband and I work together too! We can certainly relate to having a high stress job, then adding that you work together adds another level of stress that most people can't imagine! Since you're an experienced DCL cruiser, do you know what the "Rain Forest" pass is all about??

There is a post on the first page of this thread from lnponce that explains that you have to have 10 posts and gives a link to a test board where you can make those posts. What I learned last night is that it takes the message board some time to recognize that you now have "permission" to send private conversations. I did the required 10 posts last night and went to send the conversation to her right after and the "Send Conversation" button didn't show up until this morning. Hope my learning experience can help! Looking forward to meeting you on the ship - we will be the family with the little boy and his "light up cowboy boots" -- they seem to be a big hit on every cruise we go on!

Well, I made my deposit today. We will be on the Magic Christmas Cruise. We have sailed one other time, on the Magic then just before it's dry dock. We were supposed to be on the Magic right after it's rehab but had to cancel

mb168, my dd's are 12 and 17 too. Let me know when you tell them and maybe they can communicate before we sail. It's always nice to have someone familiar to hang out with.

Super excited to be going away on a Christmas Disney Cruise! I am traveling with my husband, 2 boys (ages 4,1) and my mom. I am by far the most excited as I am a huge Disney fan my mom comes in a close second and my 4 year old is getting the bug as well (makes a proud mama, ha!) As soon as I get 10 posts down I plan on signing up for the FE because it sounds like so much fun.
This will be my 3rd cruise and my husband and mom's 2nd, but our first Disney for all. If any veteran Disney cruisers have good tips and tricks I would be grateful for you to share them with us.

Thanks for letting me know about the lag time. I have 2 little boys I'll have on board (ages 1,4) so we will be on the look out for the cool boots which I am sure my oldest will surely want, ha!
