Hello everyone -

We booked this cruise when we were onboard the Wonder last summer. Hopefully we can keep this date (we may need to move it back a month due to performance schedule)

Anyway, we are a family of four. It is my husband (43), myself (a bit younger than him), our daughter (10y) and son (8y). We booked this cruise to overlap our daughter's bday. She'll turn 10 on Dec 14th. We were on our last cruise for our son's bday.

We would love to participate in the FE again. It was a highlight for my kids the last time.

We're officially off this cruise as DCL has finally decided to post their schedule to the end of 2012. As per our original plans, we've moved our cruise to November 2012. (Saved us about $300!).
I wish we were going to Castaway Cay over Cozumel, but we're still excited.

Hellooooo...Roxi here from Parker, CO. My DS (21), Austin, and I will be on the 12/10 cruise! We have been cruising with Disney since 2000, we just got back from Alaska on the Wonder (where we saw the PremEar of "On Stranger Tides ) and were on the Dream in January.

Austin lives in Orlando where he goes to school at the University of Central Florida. He works at the Buena Vista Palace and is seasonal at Disney.

Fish Exchange or FE is when you hang a bag or Fish Extender off your DCL door and people put little gifts into it for you and you do the same in return. here is the link to the massive FE discussion.

Thanks Mareeld86, for the explanation of what a Fish Exchange is. It sounds SO fun and our kids would love it!!!! Count us in! Plus, what a great way to walk around to the other parts of the ship to make deliveries. It will be like a scavenger hunt for the kids. Count Us INnnnnnnnnn!!! Seriously, brilliant idea.

Hi Guys-
Some of you were asking about the FE exchange and how this works. I did FE on my last 2 cruises. These methods worked well for our group. There are many ways to organize a FE group, but ours seemed simple and easy to do.
There is a volunteer who organizes all the FE information. They keep track of who is interested in doing the FE's and pertinent information. But I wasn't the organizer of the FE exchange, so maybe it was a little more complex than it seemed!!! Our volunteer was very good and it was so easy for all of us to follow.

On our past cruise, the volunteer organized the participant list on a Google docs spreadsheet. The participants sent a PM to the organizer, who let them know the link to the spreadsheet. The headings were Deck/cabin #/ DIS Name/ Adults/Children/Comments. Organizing the list by the deck # made it easy to deliver the gifts. This was short and worked well.

On another cruise, the organizer simply listed the DIS names/cabin #/ ages of participants etc. on the first page of the thread. This worked well also.

Those who would like to participate sign up, and there is an agreed upon cut off date for people to join the FE exchange. Our cut off date was 1 month before sailing. That way, people who sign up for the cruise a bit late, have an opportunity to do the FE exchange. Some groups designate 6 weeks or 2 months before sailing for the cutoff date- especially if there is a large # of cabins participating. This gives the participants time to get their gifts together.

Sometimes groups will designate the day people will deliver their gifts. We didn't have a designated day. We decided against this because each family may have plans for a certain day and that make delivery difficult. We had the flexibility to deliver the gifts when it was the most convenient.

I thought this was great fun. We did this on the Christmas and New Years Cruises and it was fun giving holiday related gifts. We shipped our box of FE gifts to the ship ahead of time, so we didn't have to pack them in our luggage.

Also, lots of people decorated their cabin doors with holiday decorations.

Also, someone comes up with a slogan for the cruise. For our Christmas cruise, people submitted their ideas for the slogan and then we voted to choose the slogan. Then, a graphic was designed to compliment the slogan.

This is a make up vacation for us. Our June vacation was cancelled by my Uncle Sam (Got to love the NAVY).

When a FE exchange list is made, we are most definitely in. We are huge door fans, as well as FE givers.

This is out 3rd Disney Cruise. The first was a 7 day Western cruise on the Magic (freebie for adding on points with DVC) second was with friends we met on our first cruise, a 3 day (way too short) on the Wonder.

Well message us with anything and look forward to talking to you all for the next few months (OK not me as I am deploying until mid Oct, so probably DW).
