No, you are not doing anything wrong. DISboards is currently experiencing some issues with images/avatars. Sometimes they show up, sometimes not. Some people's avatars are reverting to past ones, or flip-flopping between a previous one and a current one.

Generally it seems that those photos posted using the drag & drop, copy & paste, or upload a file function here on the boards are not always visible to everyone. Those photos posted using a photo hosting site IMG code seem to have the best luck for being visible to others.

Word is "we're aware of the problem and we're working on it".
