Saturaday Night- Met our Dinner companions, one couple from Williamsport PA who were there celebrating their 30th Wedding Anniversary and a Mother Daughter (she was 30 something) all great people and we looked forward to Dinner every night to share our day. We got our first new server I won't mention any names, now if this would have been my first cruise I would have been happy with him. But I've had some great servers on past cruises. One table over was Joyce from ST. Vincent who we had on the Mexican Cruise and she was fabulous. She came over several times to say hello. Little things, like no fresh pepper on Caesar Salad, no help putting on bandana on pirate night, Joyce was kind enough to put DW & mine on for us. I'm sure he'll learn in time, and the assistant was scared to death and she'll also grow. Did in no way detract from the experience, what they lacked in nicities they made up for in hussle. I was very upset about dining time I was under the impression from past posts that your dinner time changed in each room. It did not, we ate at 6pm every night. I was either dense or it wasn't explained well. I thought one night was 5:30 the next 5:45 then 6pm. So that was a relief. Had Beef Tenderloin w asparagus and Cheesecake, DW had Salmon.
We saw the show and it was great, wanted to stay up to see the 10:15 show in Rockin Bar d but never made it. It was soooo nice to hit that inviting bed. Yes, we did hit the stores to see what was available, had some nice things but it was small or xxl so we bought nothing.
Sunday 4/16 Quiet day at the adult pool. Also the first cruise I encountered smokers, Seven that I had to say something to, five were nice and moved, two were not nice and thought they could smoke anywhere, I assume they smoked in there cabins. A ship Officer talked with both and one it did the trick the second time, he was smoking at the Mickey pool. I will say that the non smoking areas are not marked well, they should really do something, A big reason I sail with DCL is the small area they confine smokers to. My DW was calling me the smoke police, but it bothers my sinuses and I'll get an infection, didn't want that and why should I move when I'm on the non smoking side of the ship. The Mickey pool was closed twice because some parents didn't think the rules applied to them about non potty trained kids, so everyone suffered because they have to empty the pool and clean and sanitize them. I didn'y notice that they had to close it after Monday. Went to the Vacation club meet & greet, they now have new hats blue instead of red, not as nice as the red ones but who can complain. Mentioned a couple of members had the max in points 5,000. Can't even imagine. It's hard enough keeping track of a 1,000.
Dinner at Animator's Palate, My favorite Had Veal Chop, DW had Filet and Dessert was Apple Dumpling w Vanilla Ice Cream.
I like the new Navigator, it took a day to get use to it, but it is easier to see what's going on when, before it was so spread out you missed somethings. I've read some negitive things on the board about it and was sure I wasn't going to like it. When you get up in years you don't like change, but this was okay.
Monday 4/17 Day at Sea Pools are very crowded 1,000 kids on board, I guess because of the holiday. I'm use to maybe 10 Adults at the adult pool but we had 30 to 40. At the pool from 8am to 2pm Went to the Buena Vista Theathre and saw Glory Road, very good movie, but the seats were most uncomfortable our knees were under our chins, almost, tight fit, like the seats at a New York Play. Really wanted to see Herby Fully Loaded & eight Below but couldn't stand the thoughts of sitting in those seats again.
Dinner in Parrot Cay not my favorite place except for Thursday night, Didn't like anything except the entree was Beef Tenderloin yummy Good Dessert Creme Brulee. Penny & Rick were at Palo's. We've never been there on any of our cruises maybe on our B2B in September.
Day 4 St. Maarten Decided not to get off the ship, it was heaven to have the adult pool almost to ourselves. We did get to meet a couple who brought there Daughter and 3 gk's (5,3, 1) Seasoned travelers but first DCL cruise.
They put a liner in the adult pool but still needs work on walking area, but much better shape. Dinner in Lumimers can't remember what I had and didn't write it down. With out the computer my DW put her foot down and I was able to totally relax and vegetate
Day 5 St. Thomas We were a little stir crazy and decided to get off the ship, what a mistake that was. We looked in Diamonds International and feel in love with a Blue Diamond ring, that was that and left there a little poorer, that got my blood running and I've always wanted to get DW tanzanite jewelry so a little more walking around and into another jewelery store where we fell in love with tear drop earrings and of course you had to have a matching pendant. Then as we were leaving the Sales girl said of by the way I have a lovely matching ring and braclet and we said next time so they dropped the price down to where we couldn't afford not to buy it. Then DW felt
so we spied a nice diamond ring for me. After all this I had $13 in cash, $8 cab fare we were down to zilch. Thank goodness we had a tip envelope with like $40 Oh well you only live once. Left the ship at 8:10 because we were assured the stores would be open, they weren't so we sat around till 9:10am got back to the ship at 1pm poorer but happy.
Dinner at animator's we both had Sirloin Steak with roasted red potatoes couldn't make up my mind about dessert so I had Apple Crisp Cheesecake, very very good and Rick and I decided to also share a rum cake this is to die for do not miss this one yummy yummy
Saw the Juggler in WDT and he was very good interacted with the children had just flown in that afternoon to do the show. Big day to bed right after the show it's very tiring spending money.
My poor fingers are bleeding so I will finish this later.
