Yes, we are Disney lovers, and Yes, we need a break..a switch,..a change...

We finally made the decision to try Universal! So, our Disney AP's ran out, headed to US/IOA for the first time this past weekend.. We loved it!

It was a very pleasant surprise! True, US and Disney are very different, we enjoyed all of the differences. Us is a much easier pace...from the parking lots to the turnstiles, its less hectic.

We loved the rides...RRR, the Mummy, Harry Potter, Spiderman....we were impressed with all of them.

The food options are great, and the prices are lower too!

In short, we are glad to be part of the "dark side" !!

Yeah, I am usually all Disney when it comes to Orlando vacations, but this year with the addition of Harry Potter plus having older kids to entertain, we are also going to spend a few days at universal. I am looking forward to it!

Universal is just such an exciting place right now. So much is going on and so much money is being invested into new attractions.

I must say that the rides are so different from anything we have seen. The MUMMY ride is a stand out favorite. Harry Potter is just awesome...you almost need to wait in line once or twice just to see what all is in there.

I read in a previous post about the simpson ride...we are NOT simpson fans, and dont watch the show...but the ride is awesome, funny, and a must do!

I'm a Mummy fan and truthfully that ride contributed greatly to turning me into a Universal fan.

Now you can enjoy visiting both resorts like we do. It's pricey but an absolute blast.

happy to read you are now into the darkside.

sounds like your visit was really fun.

Glad you had a great time and while we love Disney we are hooked on universal and think its so funny how when friends or family ask if we are going to Orlando are we going to Disney
Like its the only park in Orlando lol

lol.......we get that all the time :lmao:

People can`t believe we just don`t have any interest to visit Disney at all any more........do like ToT and RnR coaster though ::yes::

Herbie.......glad you all had such a great time at UO, really nice to hear :thumbsup2

I even offered to take my 6y daughter to Florida for a mommy and her trip. I gave her the option of Disney or Universal and she chose Universal, much to my surprise, since she has been asking to go back to Disney. She loves the roller coasters and can not wait until she is tall enought for Rip Rock. She still has a couple of inches to go. She loves the mummy but not Harry Potter to much. Simpsons is her favorite ride but it makes me sick so I just ride it with my eyes closed. We are trying for August,if I can swing the price. Tickets and room rates are a bit high but since we already have season passes maybe..

Speaking as a convert I have to agree, the prices really are lower on food and honestly quality is better. Last qs burger I had at Disney reminded me of one from elementary school and that's not a good thing. Plus pass holders get a discount at universal on qs. As my wife said where on Disney property can you find a steak and atmosphere like mytho's and pay less than $20 a person. Also I agree the pace is much easier, parking is never a headache and honestly the people working at usf and ioa are much friendly, sorry but I have dealt with a few too many bad and rude cast members at Disney lately.

We are totally Disney....but we come to Orlando for 14 -21 nights so for our next trip we are staying 3 nights at Uni and then the rest at Disney (DCL and BWV), this scratches both itches for us. Because we are their for so long we don't feel its the dark side, We even go to Seaworld but don't tell any one that bit!!!! LOL TTFN Jo

SeaWorld is a great park!!!

Glad you enjoyed it, too. Did you do Mardi Gras Saturday and see the parade and Demi Lovato concert? That is something you won't get at Disney.

Welcome to the dark side! We are total Disney fanatics and visited the dark side this past January and absolutely fell in love with US/IOA. Who says you can't love both the mother land and the dark side....Next trip, we are hoping to do 12 days to do Disney, US/IOA and SeaWorld (PENQUINS!!!).

I agree with many of the disney comments. I still love the disney theme, amd many rides...nobody does theming better than disney....

however, we have grown weary of the rat-race of pushy people. We found the crowd at US to much more relaxed.....way less strollers, and very few ecv's

dipping our toe in the water this trip. Just one day. We're staying at the Royal Pacific. We plan to arrive early so the kids can take advantage of the pool and we can have time to walk around Citywalk the day before.

Costco had a great deal on Universal tickets last summer. Three day, two park passes with three day passes to entertainment venues in Citywalk for $146. The tickets are good through December 2015.

We go to central Florida every two years so it works well with our schedule. One day this trip and at least two days in 2015.

Looking forward to new attractions.

I was shocked at that too..It was nice being able to walk around and not have my ankles slammed by strollers going at warp speed to get somewhere..

My wife pointed out the "little" stroller parking area near the minion ride....certainly not enough space for a disney ride......
