My husband thinks I'm crazy because I love DW so much. He's always saying,"Can't we go somewhere real for our next vacation?" And I guess next year, we will. But if we do, I'll still wish we were at the World.

I was trying to figure out exactly what it is I love about the place. Maybe iI love it because I have such happy childhood memories of going there or because everything is always so pretty and clean. But I don't think that it can be explained that easily. I think how I feel has more to do with the fact that I grew up watching and loving all those great old Disney films, where right always triumphed over wrong and true love always won out in the end. Now, we all know the world isn't really like that, but, gosh, don't you wish it was? I know I do. And when I'm at DW, it feels like the world really *is* like that or at least has the hope of being like that. Even if it's only for 7 days at the end of next month. (And maybe next year, too, if I play my cards right!) ;) I've only been on the board for a short while, but I suspect that many of you feel the same way I do.

Okay, I've rambled on long enough. Thanks for listening!

LOL my DH is the same way... he thinks it is silly! he will go again sometime (just the 4 of us), but for now (as I always have) I go with my Mom, my two kids, my sister and her 4 kids (her DH doesn't go either) it is a girls with kids trip for us... DH, myself and the kids take a trip someplace else during the summer... in a way it works for me, I get atleast two trips a year! lol! Dh is not a big fan of theme parks (espeically 7 days of it)... he is a sit on a beach, take a cruise, kind of guy... which I like to...

The world at Disney does feel as close to perfect as you can get. I like that perfect world.

I'm lucky in someways that my husband "gets" Disney. The only thing is, my mom is thinking about planning a trip for just her, my brother and I. I would feel guilty leaving him back home. At the same time it would be awesome to experience WDW with my mom and brother. We never went as kids and my brother has never been. I don't know what to do! :confused3

If only we all behaved as the CM's do! How much better would the world be?!

You're right about it being more than just a clean beautiful place. It's like a
Eutopia. Everyone is nice and helpful. Everything is beautiful and clean. It's
a feeling I get when I go through those gates. In the "world", everything will
be alright. We'll all be safe and happy. It's CRAZY. Only folks that "get it"
really get it. :confused3 :thumbsup2

We are going for Christmas this year -- last year DD requested this as her Christmas present for this year. DH agreed but then said to me "this is it right, we don't have to do Disney again" :lmao: I just looked at him and laughed.....

Now, we do take other vacations....but we try to visit WDW at least every two years (even before DD was born!).

Yeah, my boyfriend is always like "let's go somewhere different." I mean, yeah I would like to go some other places, like Disneyland. ;) But the fact of the matter is, we are too young to rent cars and many places are too far for us to drive.

I just don't understand why some people don't get the Disney magic. I have never had anything "special" ever happen to me, but I still can't see going on vacation anywhere else.

I'm just curious though, I see that with many of us, our male counterparts don't "get" Disney. Is there anyone out there whose female counterparts don't "get" Disney?

I'm very fortunate that DH "gets it" and loves Disney too. We even got married at Disney :cloud9: It's a special feeling when you're there. Everyone is nice and happy and there is so much to do and see. Just visiting the Resorts is fun! DH grew up going all the time just like I did. We live less than 2 hours away now and have Passes so we're there quite often and at least once a year we stay over a couple of nights, which is a big treat when you live so close. Usually my girlfriend's Girls Weekend is at Disney too. We take other vacations, but I'll never give up my Disney weekends!

My wife thinks I am kinda goofy for buying into the DVC at the young age of 54, but I just LOVE the place. I have always had that warm fuzzy feeling everytime we go there. Now, we get to go there every year. I getting excited just thinking about it! :cheer2: :cheer2:

the funny thing is, i keep reading in this thread people saying that it's like a utopia, a better world, that sorta thing...

and last month, when me and my wife were there, i said to her "you know, if the world was like Disney World, there would be no problems."

everyone gets along, all cultures, races, and lifestyles coming together with no judgements, no predjudices....just there for the magic of it all.

so yeah, i definitely "get it". and i DON'T get anyone that dosen't also get it.

jeff.
