Disney likely building time shares near Contemporary Resort

I looked but didn't see this article discussed yet. I know CRV has been rumored forever but this seems to confirm it even if Disney hasn't yet.

Thanks for posting it anyway, it was a good article and it certainly fans the flames for those hoping for CRV. I agree that it adds even more weight to the speculation, now if we could just get an announcement.......

I was just talking to a DVC guide on the 24th and asked a question about the contemporary. With a wink and smile he said that there was "A Contemporary expansion project going on, but they do not know what it will be just yet"

Hi-I just returned from our vacation yesterday. The building going up beside the Contemporary is very large. I asked our waitress at The Concourse Steakhouse if that was going to be villas and she said that she has not been told "officially" but that "YES" they are new dvc villas.

Cast members are not given any info on new developments until immediately prior to the public announcement. The cast members that are aware of new resort/park developments will not 'speculate'.

It was news to me that the article says Tahoe and the Caribean are under consideration.

Alas, we're selling our membership at the end of this year, after our big Thanksgiving trip. Won't get a chance to enjoy the CRV or any other new place as members.

It is also possible that Disney could decide against marketing the Contemporary addition as time shares and use the building for more hotel rooms instead. Company executives said recently that Disney World hotels are averaging 90 percent occupancy, and the Contemporary commands some of the highest room rates of them all: A one-bedroom suite can run as high as $1,310 a night.
