Is there a BIG DIFFERENCE? Yeah I know that WDW has more parks (AK and MGM) but really what is the difference of the two parks they both have? I visited Disneyland twice as a teen but I can't remember much. That's strange because both trips I visited US in LA (FYI Universal Studios is WAYYYYY better in LA - I guess because so many movies are really made there)

The question is this... Which park do you prefer and why (w/o the obvious mention of more parks at WDW)?

Just returned from our first trip DL.....and we loved it!

We are serious WDW people, but were able to appreciate all of what DL has to offer. Some things are much, much better at DL (Pirates, the themeing of fantasyland, etc) and some things are much, much better at WDW. (Watersports, nightlife etc.)

We stayed at the Grand Californian Lodge, which was beautiful and convenient! Think West Coast WL....Out one door of the lodge was Downtown Disney, out another was California Adventure, and DL itself was a five minute walk. Never used our car or any other transport during our entire vacation!

I highly reccomend planning a trip to where the magic all began! :D

As a So. Cal. resident, I'm personally partial to DL. The park has a different feeling about it than the MK. Yes, it's in a residential area but the advantage to that is that both the west coast parks (and all 3 Disney resorts) are within easy walking distance of each other.

DL has several attractions that the MK does not. Indy, the Matterhorn, Alice in Wonderland, Roger Rabbit's Cartoon Spin, Casey Jr. Circus Train, Pinocchio, Storybookland Canal Boats to name a few. Our version of POC is much better (IMHO). The park itself is smaller, almost quaint. Both parks can easily be done top to bottom in 3 days during slow season.

Now, I do LOVE the East Coast parks, in fact I have a trip coming up shortly. Honestly, though, we don't spend much time at the MK. We just do the rides that we don't have out here and move on to somewhere else.

MK in Fla and DL are both wonderful parks. Many purists prefer the Anaheim park. It's like two great pizza restaurants...you know how they can both be great, but they are different? Try to make plans for both:earsboy:

I really didn't care for Disneyland, which surprised me big time! It really varies from person to person, I think it's because I grew up going to WDW and I have a fond place for it in my heart. But on the other hand, mainstreet and castle just looked so small compared to WDW.

We love both parks but we haven't been to DL since they opened California Adventure, hoping to talk my DH into it this summer. We are going to Ca but will be six hours away. We were just at WDW so he said the mouse got enough of our money for one year. LOL. FYI- The indy ride at DL can't be beat. Wish me luck I hope to be riding it in Aug. :wave2: Gina
