disney just for kids

I'm so tired of telling people that I'm going to Disney in Dec. and the response is Disney is just for kids. They are like why are you spending your vacation there? It's so expensive and there is nothing to do for adults. Does anyone else get this response? I know that disney does have a lot of kid stuff, but common, adults have awesome vacations too.

Isn't it ironic that some people think "Disney is just for kids" and others look at you like you're crazy if you take a child who is under the age of 5 "because they won't remember it?"

I say, go, have fun, be a kid yourself and ENJOY the magic!!!

I went for the first time when i was 11 and loved it but had more fun as i got older to the present day, and my son 8 likes it more and more as he gets older(hoping this trend will continue).

Hi there! Just came from the MouseHouse w/ 2 teenage boys. Who said that WDW is just for kids has got to be there to experience the pixie dust ! Our boys had major blast doing Disney their way, while DH and I eased the Parks at our pace.
In our opinions we think the adults actually enjoy themselves much more than the little tikes. So don't feel bad about those comments. Those don't like Disney don't have to go. Which only mean less crowd for us hardcore fans, right?

I hear Hall of Presidents and pretty much all of Epcot is geared toward the toddler set....hello! There is a lot of disney that the kids don't actually even get even though they still enjoy it. I was telling my dh the other day that shows like Muppet 3D really appeal more to people our age b/c we grew up w/that show. People are clueless. I think it's more jealousy than anything

People who think WDW is just for kids have either never been there or didn't see half of what WDW has to offer when they did.

DH and I just spent our 20th anniversary there WITHOUT THE KIDS.
DS13 says he is not interested in going anymore, soo.....DH and I are planning a trip next year with BIL AND SIL.
It really is alot of fun without the kids(cheaper too)

Yes, so very tired of that comment. DH and I are in our mid forties. I think people just don't get it. We don't have children and have to hear those comments too. Why would you go to Disney you don't have children. Sorry but I go on vacation where I will have a good time. Not where I am expected to go. We have people say we should go to Vegas. (Go there) We should go to the beach. (Going there after we go to WDW) Take a cruise. (Did DCL Western last year, doing Eastern next year). They just can't wrap their "adult" brains around the fact that Disney is fun for everyone.

DH and I will never grow up. If we do we will just be OLD.

I understand the frustration, but I wouldn't get upset about it. Most people are simply unaware of all that Disney has to offer adults. I was pretty surprised myself when we were there last year. I loved taking my kids there (and can't wait to do it again), but now I am also looking forward to the day that I can go alone with my husband and take advantage of all that adult fun!

I say blow off the nay-sayers. They just don't know any better.

For people all the people that tell me that I say....So call me a BIG KID! Part of the appeal of a Disney vacation for me is that I can feel like a kid! But that's not to say Disney doesn't have plenty of adult stuff too! The first time I went to WDW was on my honeymoon. My family always kidded around with me asking how we can be going back to WDW for another "kid vacation" when we live in L.A. and can go to Disneyland whenever we want. No matter what I told them, they wouldn't believe me. Finally, I convinced them to go with us using our DVC points. My parents were AMAZED! My dad played 3 rounds of golf at courses that he'd seen watching the PGA on television. He never knew they were in Walt Disney World. I took my mom to the spa. We ate dinner at Victoria & Alberts. We went down to the World of Sports and watch some spring training. Not to mention all of the parks...My parents can't wait to go back next December. (Dad needs "cooler" weather for all the golf he wants to play.) And he's trying to convince my husband to check out the speedway.

We love to go to Disney, are you kidding me?? We went there and my DH propsed, we went back for Honeymoon and now we go with the kids. I am even going to go when it's just me and hubby again when the kids go off to college! It's our favorite place!!

I get people that say to us ... "you're going again this year? why not go somewhere else for a change and do something different?"

Before our first Disney trip my boyfriend complained so much. He even went out and got brochures for other types of vacations. He insisted that because our group of 6 was all adults that we would have no fun. He really belived disney was only for kids.
All throughout the trip we would catch him smiling and having fun. You should have seen him after we happened to see Brian Urlacher (it was the ESPN weekend). Everyone would tell him "there is no smiling in Disney. This isn't a fun vacation. Your'e an adult act like it."
He ended up having a great time and admitting he was all wrong about it. Now we go every year. He even suggested a Disney wedding.

Just want to add one more thing to my OP. DH is still whisling the "It's small world" song. Even his co-workers got some of his Disney spirit too.
