Disney just called and they are UPGRADING me from CR to the POLY for FREE!!!!!

I just received a call from Disney and they informed me that during our stay from 7/2-7/9, they will begin an "unexpected" renovation to the North Garden wing at the CR starting on 7/7. This effects our last 2 nights of our trip.

At first they wanted me to stay at the CR for the 1st 5 nights, check out and move into the Poly for the last 2 nights. I said that I have a 15 month old & 5 yo and I rented a crib from ABBF. I then said it would be so difficult for me to pack up 2 kids and a CRIB and move to another resort in the middle of my vacation!!!

She was soooooo sweet, she said she understood and said would you like it if you just stayed at the POLY for all SEVEN nights. I said of course but it was out of our budget and she said, you don't understand, we will charge you exactly what your are paying in the CR (166.00 per night; due to a pin code) and put you in the POLY instead!!

I have never in my life received such a gracious offer without even having to ask for it!!! I call that pure Pixie Dust

This is FANTASTIC!

Something similiar happened on our first trip with the kids. We were going down there practically broke We had ressies at the All Star Sports. We arrived a day earlier than expected (the kids traveled better than we expected and we made it in one day instead of having to stop). So we just went to ASSp and asked did they have a room available. Yes, they replied!

Then the CM goes, "Oh, no." Would you mind having a seat for a few moments? We all sat down clueless as to what was happening. He came back and said, "I am so sorry but the last room was just booked". It didn't bug us, we said, well OK, see you tomorrow. We walked back to the car.

As we are leaving the parking lot, the CM comes running toward us waving his arms! He said, "If you wouldn't mind coming back inside for just a moment"

They put us up in the Disney Institue, 1 bedroom suite for the $49 we were paying for the All Stars!!! As we drove over to DI, we saw the midnight fireworks at Downtown Disney.

It was the perfect start to many great WDW trips!

I do have a question for any of the Poly experts out there....is there a certain longhouse that I should wish for??? I do not want to request one, I am so grateful for the upgrade, I do not want to "over do it". Also is there a great website that anyone can suggest for me to do my research on this resort. This is our family's 1st trip and all of my research has been on the CR and now I have to change gears and research the POLY!!!

I still can't believe that this is happening to us!!! I feel like I won the lottery

I keep telling DH that I really want to go and stay at the Poly (as we never have). . . . .and soon!!

That's great and loved hearing this. This has been secretly in the back of my mind also. I have 2 rooms booked at CR for September (wing/standard) and have already set myself up for the "call" in case we are displaced. I will only take a monorail resort because we are traveling with the "new baby", plus we will be there to celebrate my 50th. We have 2 standard room for $119 a night, so will be amazed what, or if, they offer to move us.

$119 a night at the Contemporary Resort? I've heard of good rates (like the $166 the OP was paying), but I've never heard of a rate that good. Care to explain how you got that rate?

Congratulations That is awesome. You will love the Polynesian. Go to the web site and check it out. We love the Samoa longhouse and Rarotonga would be convenient for you too, close to the GCH for monorail access, short walk to the bus stop and to captain cooks for snacks etc. Aloha!!

We stayed in Samoa, 1st Floor, facing the Volcano Pool last Summer. We loved it. You could walk right out of the slider and into the Pool.
