Ok this is why I love these boards. I just saw someone mention this on another thread, but never heard of it. What is it? Is it included in regular park tickets? How long does it last? I am so confused, as I've NEVER heard of this!

I googled it when I saw it mentioned in the other thread, because I was curious too. :rotfl:

It sounds like its a dance party with characters in the Playhouse Disney theater during evening EMHs at DHS.

Hopefully someone else has actually been to one and can fill in some more details!

I did the same and learned the same as you! I was wondering if anyone else could shed some light. Which characters, is there a cost, where it takes place, etc.

No extra cost.

Only offered during DHS Evening Magic Hours.

Located in the Disney Junior Live building.

When we were there, there was a DJ, disco ball, bubbles, and party music. The characters(all the Disney Jr. characters, plus Goofy and Pluto, that night) come out and just dance and interact with the kids.

It's a blast.

The DHS dance party is located in the Disney Junior stage show building and only takes place during evening EMH. The put a fun DJ on the stage and paly a variety of kid and pop songs. The also have several ballon artists making free stuff for the kids. About every 20 minutes, one or two characters come out and join the kids. There can be anywhere from 2 to 4 characters in there at one time. It is a fun, free event. Characters range from Disney Junior characters to any of the Fab 5.

*** THIS IS NOT A MEET AND GREET***

There are no autographs or posed pictures. You are free to take photos of your child dancing with the characters, but there are no individual photo opportunities.

How do you guys know about the jr dance party besides these threads? Why doesn't Disney post it up on their site? It sounds like a great time by the last poster.

Prior to our last trip, I knew about it from these threads. But that day, the times guide for DHS mentioned it. I'm sure someone can post a pic.

My girls love the Playhouse Jr Dance Party!! It is a great way to interact with the characters. Even on the trip that one of my daughters was scared to get too close for pics with characters, she enjoyed this and danced near them. We got some great pictures and videos. As a pp mentioned, it is not a place for posed pictues and autographs, but a lot of fun!

So glad I read about it. My kids would LOVE it! I LOVE finding out about new things. ALways makes me wonder what else I don't know about!

I'm gutted that it's only during EMH as we're staying offsite. Boo

I just read on another board that it lasts for the full 3hrs.. that sounds like one heck of a dance party!!

It was pretty crowded when we were there in 2010. Not body-to-body, or anything uncomfortable, but definitely a big crowd. People kind of come and go, and since it caters to the young ones, I'm guessing it really slows down after 9 or so.

Since there's so much random, quick interaction, but no posing, it's a great place to take video(which we don't do very often on WDW trips, instead focusing on still shots).

We go in times of the year that are lower crowds, and while the party is definitely well attended it has never seemed horribly crowded. Maybe that is one of the reasons they only do it during EMH, to keep the attendance managable. The crowds ebb and flow as people go in and out. It lasts the whole 3 hours of EMH, but you can go in and out as you please, and stay as short or as long as you like. Also, you don't have to worry too much about losing your kids because there are 2 CMs that stand at the door and check to be sure you are resort guests before letting you in, and they are very good about not letting the kids wander out of the party without their parents (or at least they were when we were there). It is a lot of fun. I would highly recommend it. Although the characters don't sign autographs, if the crowd is low they will sometimes give you a quick pose.

Pretty much what everyone above stated! I'm just here to illustrate. :thumbsup2

about the video - I am not sure if JoJo is still there since she no longer appears in the other spots she use to be. But this was Nov. '10, and even then my dd was about the only kid who seemed to know who she was (she had been JoJo for Halloween when she was 2).

Here you go.:)

The Evening Extra Magic Hours Times Guide is the only place that Disney "advertises" the Party.

Most EEMH Guests never even know it is happening as most don't know there is such a thing as an EEMH Times Guide.:)

You just walk in the doors. You will have to show your room card to verify you're a resort guest, since it's an EMH event.
