Disney Jr FP+ question

Our plans just changed because of the new Minnie dinner at H&V that is starting. We're deciding to spend a mid-afternoon/evening there instead of a morning.

The catch? It's an EMH night.

We will be arriving to the park around 2:30pm and bringing DD to the Disney Jr show. I know the FP seating is not good and typically FP is unnecessary.

The only showing we would be able to go to is the 3:10.

I figure that show is most crowded in the morning, but with evening EMH, I'm not sure.

Do you think we'd get in with standby? Or, should we get the FP to be sure since there's only one showing we can hit up?

How early would you recommend being there for standby?

No matter the attraction, if it is important enough for you to see then FP is always a good idea.

That said, I don't think FP is necessary for this one, and getting in standby 20-30 minutes before show time will almost certainly get you in to the theater on most any day of the year*. I can't imagine EMH would affect this attraction in any perceptible way.

*Christmas week the only likely exception.

I wouldn't waste a FP on it. I wouldn't waste a FP on ANY show unless you are pressed for time and want to just "walk up" to a show a few minutes before showtime. I find it a travesty that Disney even offers Fast Passes for shows like this. How many families "waste" a FP on something they really didn't need it for anyway.

That being said, there isn't much else for toddlers to do at DHS to use Fast Passes for anyway. They can't go on 3 of the 5 rides there (and your "Tier 1" Fast Pass is probably going to be used for Toy Story).

I "wasted" a FP on it last trip (morning show) .. the theater (which is just floor seating (great for kids)) was only 1/3 full (if even). We didn't even scan our FP and just walked in 5 minutes before showtime (using the time leading up to the show to visit characters right outside the venue). I don't even think they have special seating for FP . they just let you in earlier than the Standby crowd.

And you are right .. at 2:30 in the afternoon most of that audience for that show is probably taking a nap or on a break somewhere ...

The fact remains that DHS is a small park with few attractions and a lot of people don't spend a lot of time there.
Considering that the Disney Junior Show is one of the FEW attractions there for toddlers, I just don't see the park very busy with the toddler crowd (or busy at all).
I would think the evening EMH would simply make it busier for the ADULT attractions like Rock N Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror.

If you want to risk not getting a Fast Pass for it .. I think you easily will be fine.

We always make a FP for it because our kids are young and there's not much for us to reserve. The "seats" are pretty much all the same. You sit on the floor and look up at the stage. we found the back of the middle section to be the best. They are less strict about the kids standing because no one is behind you.

We make the FP and if the line is short we go in via the stand by line and just switch the FP to something else.

It sounds like you may go fairly often. When was the last time you went, and were the FP holders being directed to the front-and-center section like they had been in the past? Or were you able to sit anywhere in the room? I am interested in recent reports and if anything has changed.

We were just there the first week of August. we were sat in the center section. We asked if they cared that we stayed towards the back, they didn't and said after they let in stand by if we wanted to move we could. My 3 year old can't see a thing sitting if we sit to close to the front and they are strict about standing kids.

Thanks, that's helpful. The part I bolded in your post is exactly why I asked, and an important reason I don't recommend FP for this attraction. :goodvibes
