Hello,

I just graduated from college and it is my dream to work for Disney. I was not able to do the CP while I was in school and I no longer qualify for it. I have talked to several people at Disney and they said that I need to get my foot in the door by working in a front desk position at one of Disney's resorts. The problem is that they are not hiring right now. I would even apply for an attractions position, but they only have "limited positions" available. I am afraid to apply because the website says that you have to wait 6 months before applying again. Do they usually start hiring more in the fall because all of the seasonal employees have left? Any advice on when to apply??

Thanks!

There are seasonal employees year round. Can you take a BS class at a community college so you can do the CP? You only need to take a single class to apply

I would apply and get to the interview phase. Once you get the interview nail it and use the job you applied for as a stepping stone. New hires are able to transfer after 90 days (after your first transfer it is 6 months)

You might have a good recruiter who will try and match you with the kind of job your looking for if available or at worse case take any job and then transfer out once you have your time in.

Go ahead and apply on-line as there are several steps before you actually get to casting:

Application (list a FL address)
Web Based Interview (use "Strongly" answers for most questions)
In Person Interview
Area Interview (not every location does this, but some resorts do - e.g., Grand Fla)

During the first Interview you will select which roles you are interested in and if there are no immediate openings then your name goes on a waiting list. The sooner you apply the closer your name will be to the top. Keep in mind, you are also competing with internal transfers, who will also be selected before you. So I say the earlier the better.

If you are not contacted within 6 months, then you can just call them and ask to be extended for another 6 months. It's just so they do not start offering jobs to people who no longer want them, so 6 months is a good cut off point.

Thanks for the advice everyone!
I don't live in FL, will this greatly impact my chances???
Also, do they interview every applicant? And how long after the application is complete do they set up phone interviews?

Thanks! :)

No, they do not interview everyone, you have to pass each round (the web based interview will knock quite a few people out). It can take a couple days or weeks between each step of the process.

They will not interview you if you do not have a FL address, it's a professional courtesy. Most companies that offer an interview will pay for travel and lodging for out of state applicants. Disney will not do this for roles that make less than $10 an hour. If you apply for their professional roles, then you can consider putting your home state address.

If you know someone in FL, list their address. This just means that you will provide your own transportation and lodging when you come to interview. Once you get the job, it's very easy to change your address. This is a pretty common practice when applying for jobs all over the country.

sorry for all of the questions, but is there anywhere in the application that I could say that I am willing to pay for my own travel to FL for an interview? or do they ever do phone interviews???

Falsification of information on any application (any company, not just Disney) is usually frowned upon.

I would think that if they are really filtering out people who don't live locally it is because they may need to fill the position quickly and not wait several weeks for someone to move.

I would call 407-828-1000 and discuss your situation with the Disney Job Line. Let them advise you on your best course of action. IMHO that would be much better than doing something that could lead to a less than desirable outcome.

Some clarification from someone in about your same position. I also graduated and no longer qualify for the cp. I applied with my address in NC before I moved in April and than once I got to Florida about two weeks ago I changed my address. I did not have to do a web based interveiw and all that I just filled in the app online. My app said pending for a while and now its back to not saying anything but I have called and they asay I am still pending. If that helps at all. I just applied and waited to see what would happen but it makes sence that nothing really changed until I changed my address to FL

Thanks for the help everyone! I have to say that I was a little unsure about the idea of using a friend's florida address, however, I just called Disney casting and they actually suggested that I do that. Weird, but hey, whatever works!

Hehe... I should have mentioned, a friend of mine that works at Casting sort of help me write that post as she was sitting next to me.

and, don't forget there's always grad school ;). I went back for my master's, did the CP, then a PI, then was statused as a manager. It was well worth the extra school work (I can say that now, in hindsight, I graduate in September!)

If you do the community college route, it might be a little bit easier, just not potentially permenant. My boyfriend took one nonsense class, it was about $300 and was accepted. :)

Hi Everyone,

I have another question that I am hoping someone can help me out with-- After I applied, I got an email saying that I needed to complete an online assesment that I could find under the "Workbench" tab of my profile. I logged in, but it says that I have no assesments to take. I called casting and the girl I talked to wasn't sure why that was and told me that I probably filled it out in the application process without knowing. I know that I didn't fill it out... I definitely would have remembered. Have any of you had this problem too? Any advice??? I would just hate to not be concidered for a job just because the computer system wouldn't let me take an assesment.

Thanks in advance!
